As you may know, an annual music festival in Austin, Texas called "South by Southwest" has become one of the premier showcases in the world for many musical acts encompassing many different musical genres.

What you may not know is that these groups are encouraged to release one song each for widespread and free distribution..and you can download many gigabytes of this music to explore and perhaps to find new favorites you never knew existed.

The best place I have found to gain access to these downloads is at http://sites.google.com/site/sxswtorrent/

There, you can get collections ranging back to 2005. The 2011 edition will be available in about two months. (And, if you can possibly be in Austin for it, there are many hundreds of bands appearing all over town--quite fitting for a city that bills itself as the "live music capital." The 2010 collection alone is about 5.3 gigabytes, to give you an idea of its scope.

I do hope you will find some new favorites of your own in this immense collection!

The youtu.be is the new youtube URL shortening feature.  As admin mentioned, it does not work with this forum software.   Likewise, embedding options like video start positioning will not work here. Each user uploading a video also has the option to disallow embedding to keep the video from being played from sites other than youtube.
