Two days of fishing...   Moonshine...  Whiskery..  Russian Sauna , Swiming.. and a lot of peeva "Beer"...

It was a great time...   I enjoyed all of her friends...  They are all great people....   I will have to photoshop some pictures and I will post a few....

So far the only person who has got a little mad at me,, is Viktoria.... I enjoy drinking!!!  She is fine...She just worries about me...  She is very kind..

I asked her father if I could make Viktoria my wife and bring her to America.... He said yes...   He told me I was now his son....  He enjoyed drinking Moonshine with me... We had a great time....

I think they are surprised by my drinking... I think he was surprised by my drinking ability....

He is a good hard working man.. a farmer... I think Ukrianians  are great people.. always kind..

It was nice to get out of the cities for a few days... The country side reminded me of My New York....   Cows, pigs and chickens....

Now  time to have some more fun.....

Congratulations.

If generally you are not a big drinker, I would tell Viktoria that, as drinking is the primary weakness of Ukrainian men, and the number one cause of divorce.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

If I were you I would be worried about the purity and dangers of their moonshine. If you go again take some U.S.A. brand and/or
quality scotch or bourbon. My friends in Russia never use the moonshine.

My cousin Ghera makes moonshine in his bathroom frequently. Because of our relationship, I agreed to a grand total of one shot this summer and that was more than enough for me.

As to her concern about your drinking, I'd echo Bo's sentiments plus 1000. Your gal has historical context on what alcohol can do to a marriage, and the last thing she needs to do is to give up everything in her life to move to another country only to find herself, without her familiar support systems, living with a man consumed by drink.

The best thing that you can do so that she can stop worrying is to: stop drinking after just one or two shots offered. Then, assure her that you have no desire to make alcohol an important part of your life.

Despite what you may have heard or read, FSU folk are okay and will respect you if you set limits. Perhaps the most important day for toasts is over the New Year holiday. In our family tradition we visit anywhere from 4 to 5 homes on the way to the home where we will spend the holiday. On New Year's Eve we start traveling about Moscow around 2pm. In each home of a relative or close friend, naturally they want to share toasts. If I shared multiple toasts in 4-5 homes, then more at the home where the family traditionally gathers to spend the holiday, I'd be passed out under someone's table by early evening.

Mrs M carries a couple of bottles of 7-up in her purse. As toasts are offered she pours 7-up to about 3/4 of our shot glasses, then allows the host or hostess to top it off. After two, I no longer top it off. That allows me to enjoy and participate, but not be be drunk after stopping at so many homes, only to repeat the process at our destination.

At first a couple of cousins and friends would beg me to do otherwise, but they quickly turn their attention to something else. Over the years I've successfully been able to demonstrate that we are there to honour and cherish them, not just their vodka, and enjoying the holiday in their homes is the most important part of the celebration.

I would not be too worried about drinking Ukrainian moonshine (samogon).  The rural tradition of homebrew is strong in Ukraine, probably more so than in Russia, because Ukraine has a larger rural population than does Russia.

The better half doesn't drink at all.  UM used to question his manhood (he didn't care, he just laughed about it), but women used to look at him in awe.  They also used to give him all sorts of presents - salo or sausage from their villages (which he also didn't eat), mint tea, herbs, fruit and vegetables.

Question: What do you call Darth Budda after he drinks a jug of moonshine, a bottle of whiskey and a case of beer?

Answer: Just getting started!

Might not want to tell that to Viktoria until after you're married. :D

the Moonshine is made by Viktoria's father....

Honey, cherries and old Oak....

It is very strong but it is very good...

I like it....

I drink very little beer in America or hard liquor...

I my younger days I would drink a lot....

I should add... when we drink their is always a lot of food.

She said I can drink a lot of alcohol for a man but I do not get drunk...

I can handle my spirits...

Vooodma   "Cheers"

I think her father would of been disappointed if I did not drink his Moonshine...
It made him very happy that I tried and enjoyed his moonshine...

He even gave me a bottle!!!

So far I have received many gifts...

2 bottles of moonshine.. one bottle from her father, one from Viktoria's mothers brother....

2 bottles of honey, and a tray of honeycomb directly out of the bee hive...

I was given a fur hat from the 1940's... it is very cool... and warm...

Best gift was friendship...  I got a big hug from her friends...  They told me they enjoyed my company and will remember me for the rest of their lives...

Her brother said I was his brother...  Her mother said she was my mom, her father said he was my dad...

Viktoria will be my Ukrainian princess.. She will be in New York before Christmas...

Congratulations.

I see why they think you are Ukrainian.  Ukrainians aren't used to seeing AM who are as slender as UM.

If anyone is going to the Krivograd area...

I can recommend a Translator and a security guy.. They know the town and were the hot spots are..

Or in my case.. were the parks are late at night... Were the locals sit, drink beer and play music...

Very nice guys...  In their late 20's

The Translator.. Is teaching Viktoria... He teaches classes in Kirovograd... Lived in North carolina for a while..
Price is very reasonable... Will teach classes through skype...

Hopefully things will turn over quick. With all the attention Muslim's will be getting in immigration/Homeland Security, hopefully it doesn't bog down the paperwork in other departments.
