The Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, previously known as the Russian Soviet Republic and the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic.

So for those who want to refer to the Ukraine, they should also refer to the Russia.

Of course when you spell The Ukraine, you are supposed to capitalize
the word "The"
Example 1:  I visited The Ukraine 5 times.
Example 2: The Ukraine translates to The land of many borders.

Not true.  We say let's go visit the United States; not let's go visit The United States.

Americans tended to equate the USSR with Russia.  I suspect many would not even know Ukrainians were a separate ethnic group.

"the Ukraine" was always rejected by the Ukrainian diaspora.  It was the diaspora which intensified this after the collapse of the USSR, as it tends to indicate Ukraine is not a sovereign state.  Most Ukrainians don't really know about this, let alone care, unless they live in an English speaking country, or are fluent in English. The government has stated in the past that it's just "Ukraine".  It has also stated that the correct spelling of the capital is Kyiv, but most posters here ignore that as well.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

The better half tells me that there is no fee to travel from the conflict zone to the rest of Ukraine, but most people travelling will be expected to pay a bribe.

I was just poking you with a stick. It was meant to be slightly humorous
and surely tongue in cheek.

He intends to lighten up literally by using SPF 249 sun screen and staying
indoors during the daylight hours.
