And now for something completely different .....
« on: September 24, 2019, 12:23:01 PM »
Apparently a Russian Navy boat was capsized and sunk by a walrus attempting to protect her young.   Naturally, the Russian news services made note of the heroic actions by the boats occupants, who all survived their ordeal.   However, those same news services made no mention that the boat sunk.   A little touchy about their navy, me thinks.  Especially after the floating dry dock incident last year and the ongoing problems with their (only) aircraft carrier.

My golfing buddies were laughing at this today.

I want video!!!!!  Maybe we should collect herds of walri, train them, and  set them lose in the Persian Gulf to attack those Islamic Revolutionary Guard speed boats with rockets.  Only problem - the intense heat of the Gulf and all that walrus blubber.

Oh, I don't know.  They did pretty well in 50 First Dates.  And that was in Hawaii.

I used to live in Monterey, California...
we'd have to put boards with nails on our boat in the harbor, or these 2,000 lb blobs of blubber would try to crawl on and capsize them
if you are on board when this happens, it's against the law to injure them in California, so you can't even touch them....
