Tribute to RWD Married Members
« on: February 24, 2008, 07:59:20 PM »
Greetings everyone!

I wanted to take a moment to make a tribute to our Married members - with special mention of those who were married after joining RWD.

Marriage, as a milestone in our journeys, is a significant point in each of our lives and deserves special recognition. I have spent some time reviewing the posts and came up with the following list of married members. I am certain to have missed many, and I invite your assistance in identifying additional married members I may have missed. Also, as new members are added, please add your name to the list by posting a follow-up and letting us know about you, your marriage, your family, and your journey.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Well thank you kindly, Dan but you are in error regarding me and Nina.  Although we have known each other for 7 years and have been living together in Russia for the past 6 years, we are not now, nor have we ever  been, and it is highly unlikely that we ever will be, married.

Sounds like this qualifies for a RWD common law marriage - good enuf for me.

Thanks Dan.
Seems like the married guys are definately the minority group here considering over 3k members. Because of this site we have been able to meet and correspond with some extremely high quality people and hope to meet more in the future.
  Phil,
BC is right. If you were here in Tn., all I could say is Pozna. Nina already owns half of your possessions.  :'(

Dan,

I wonder how many RWD members are in the final stages of marriage? Have filed a K-1, or better yet have their lady here but have not tied the knot. Would be interesting to know how many congratulations we might be sending out in 2008.

Oops!

Well, I tried to cover my a$$ by mentioning that I probably made some mistakes in the list. Sorry about that Phil. If you like, I will remove it.

And for anyone else - PLEASE do not be offended if I managed to miss your name in the list. I really and truly meant this to be a positive tribute to ALL our members who are married - and a few that are essentially so  ;)

I would appreciate any and all assistance in identifying any other members - particularly those who are active members - who are married and I missed. Please post a message to let me know and I will add them ASAP.

Thanks!

- Dan

Cheers Dan...  It's interesting to look back through the list and recall all of the good advice I received during my search from the married guys.

Of course I also remember times like these too:     The RWD family is family after all!

Not a problem Dan... It's just like being married anyway.. and  any true Russian gal will tell you that marriage really isn't much more than a stamp in a passport!

Well, I've been trying to prove the existence and my possession of this elusive emptiness to the IRS for years. However, if it does indeed exist, they have determined that I would then own it and must pay taxes on it. I'm sure they'll figure out a way to actually give it a taxable value as well! The never ending saga.

Congrats all you Married and Cohabitation experts, and thanks for your input.

Phil,
Ya got me on that one except maybe she keeps the her high heels and you keep the thong. :o. Otherwise, as they still say here, and you being the male, she gets the goldmine(no matter its value) and you get the shaft.

Dan,

Thanks for the congrats. I haven't logged in for a while so I wouldn't have known about your congrats except
for the email you sent to the members. Oksana and I are coming up on 4 years of marriage (July anniversary).
My wife is such a wonderful lady and I have been blessed with her. I never forget that she gave up her life
in Russia, trusted me, and came to America. I try to be the best husband I can be to her.

Thanks Dan, for the congrats.
Havn't been on the board for some time & just came across this.
Comin' up on 5 years with the past year living in separate countries. Welll...9.5 months at this point. As slow as immigration is moving it will be a year before we see each other again. Kicker is we may end up spending our 5th. anniversary apart & that doesn't impress me much.
However, as always, we will survive & grow.
By the way, I believe we were married after I joined the old board. Not positive but it does seem so, I could be wrong however.
Thanks again.

Thanks Dan,

I haven't logged in for a while and it was nice to see this. We are now past our 4th year of marriage. I admit, I got lucky and found a good lady. Perhaps that's why I proposed during the 1st week (I'm the OneWeekWonder).

I also hadn't visited here in a while and it was nice to open and read this thread!

After four years of a very long distance relationship DM got a stamp in his passport in April of this year. (No place for a stamp in mine, hence I am the Keeper of the Marriage Certificate.) We bought an apartment in DM's hometown in August, which he is busy renovating.

My thanks to the ladies and gentlemen here who've offered many helpful insights about international coupledom, and congratulations to all of us!
