Title: Australians need any help?
Post by: Shadow on January 07, 2020, 02:21:25 PM
Here a shoutout to all the Aussies on board. In our country several NGO are attempting to mkae money by gathering donations to help Australia and several celebrities are requesting help.My personal policy has always been not to help the NGO's making money as usually less than 10% lands where it ahould be. However helping those in need by a short and direct line is a different thing.
There for my uestion: are any of you diretly hit by the fires, or are you able to help some victims without having to involve NGO tactics? I so let us use our networks to provide real help that will land in the right place.

Thankyou for your concern.
There are very clearly established organisations that any donation  should be directed to -- so definitely check the bona fides before just doing so online.
You will see links from Government sites( even then- double check anything online)   to approved sites.
That said-there are some individuals and organisations  that will be ok --  but better still to go where there is no doubt.
The Red Cross has been doing some amazing unsung work -- the Salvation Army too . They have the contacts and infrastructure for the urgent responses of immediate needs to help people in the short term.

I will do a little research and provide some links later.

Wildlife and animals  are not being ignored either -many volunteers are trying to do what they can to help-- but the losses are in huge numbers .

The aid needed in immediate help is in a different category to the aid required to rebuild lives, properties, business's,farms & stock ,communities etc .

Here are 8 ways you can donate money to Australia’s bushfire relief effort

As Australia’s bushfire crisis continues, there are several ways you can assist those in need. The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) noted that while there are many ways you can help, “the best way is to donate money”.

“This allows people to buy the things they need, and it supports local businesses which have also been impacted,” NSW RFS said on its website.

“We know many people want to donate physical items such as food and clothing but these take up much needed community space.”

Victorian Premier Danial Andrews echoed that sentiment, saying on Twitter, that relief organisations “don’t have the space to sort or store donations”.

1. Australian Red Cross Disaster Recovery and Relief
The Red Cross supports a variety of efforts such as supporting people at evacuation centres and providing emergency assistance like cash grants to people who have lost their homes

2. Salvation Army Disaster Appeal
Salvation Army team members are providing meals to first-line responders and evacuees, as well as any other support needed, Major Topher Holland, the organisation’s General Manager of Strategic Emergency and Disaster Management, said in a statement.

3. St Vincent de Paul Society Bushfire Appeal (NSW)
Vinnies’ bushfire appeal helps provide food, clothing and money that bushfire victims may need to pay their bills.

4. NSW Rural Fire Service
You can either donate straight to the NSW RFS or to your local Rural Fire Brigade to support volunteer firefighters.

5. Country Fire Authority (CFA), Victoria
Like the NSW RFS, you can donate either to a specific brigade or provide a general donation.

6. The Victorian Bushfire Appeal
The Victorian Government teamed up with The Salvation Army and Bendigo Bank for the appeal, with all funds going to communities in need.

7. The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital
The organisation has a GoFundMe page that seeks funding for Koalas affected by the bushfires.

8. WIRES
NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES) rescues and cares for animals and is seeking donations for volunteer carers and recuers that are “indundated” with them amid the bushfires.
