Death toll from concert hall terrorist attack rises to 133


MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. The death toll from the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall music venue near Moscow has climbed to 133 people, the Russian Investigative Committee told TASS.

"As the rubble was being removed in the concert hall of the Crocus City Hall, the number of people killed in the terrorist attack has risen to 133. The search operation is underway," the statement said.

ISIS-K: Brutal IS branch behind Moscow attack
ISIS-K claimed a January 3 bombing that killed 95 people in Kerman, Iran. US
officials said they had warned their Iranian counterpart ahead of the attack,
as they say they did before the Moscow shooting.

In March, US intelligence officials indicated that ISIS-K had an active presence
in Russia — with plans to orchestrate attacks in Moscow. Russia's FSB
security service claimed that it prevented an armed attack by ISIS-K
on a synagogue in the Kaluga region near Moscow on March 7.

Russian airstrikes on behalf of President Bashar al-Assad on IS positions
changed the course of Syria's civil war. Many ISIS leaders have since
condemned Putin as a leader who has the blood of Muslims on his hands.
ISIS-K propaganda also refers to the history of Soviet intervention in
Afghanistan.

Iran terror blast highlights success – and growing risk – of ISIS-K regional strategy

In a brutal demonstration of its capability to align actions with extreme rhetoric,
ISIS-K claimed responsibility for a bomb attack in Kerman, Iran, which resulted
in the deaths of over 100 people.

Moscow concert hall attack: What do we know so far?

The attack began on Friday evening just as people were taking their seats
for a sold-out show by Picnic, a popular rock band from the Soviet era.

The attackers also set off explosives that ignited a huge blaze that at one point covered as much as 12,900 square metres (139,000sq ft), according to Russian news agency Interfax.

Graphic videos posted on social media showed the gunmen firing repeatedly as they entered the building, and shooting people at point-blank range.

Another video showed a man in the auditorium saying the attackers had set it on fire.

Even Russian news is reporting that the USA warned them.

"BERLIN, March 25. /TASS/. German security agencies continue to keep in professional contact with their counterparts in Russia, German Federal Government Spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit told reporters at a briefing.

"There are still contacts with Russia at the working level," he said in response to a related question.
Hebestreit also recalled that earlier the US had openly warned about the terrorist threat in Russia."
