First, the hernia surgery is simple.  I am a survivor.  Demand that your surgeon select a proven fabric.
The surgery is necessary; otherwise, your intestine could become impinged, and that indeed risks fatal infection. T
That was the previous recommendation.  Now they tend to recommend "watch and wait".  Wait until you are feeling minor discomfort.  As only a few out of 1000 have the issue,  and the percentage of problems after the surgery is just as high.

Knowing your mother's condition may help you know what to watch out for in yourself. Or what diet or dietary method you should consider to counter a condition you might inherit.

If I get to 80 as fit and healthy as she was....I will be happy..

I see nothing in her diet..I do see a genetic pattern ((

Off to the big city for Ochka's Citizenship Interview and Testing.

Wife passed Citizenship Tests which  consisted of 1) Written English, 2) Spoken English, 3) U.S. History and 4) U.S. Government.

To celebrate, we went to restaurant where we spent more than $20.

Oath Ceremony to be scheduled.

Oath Ceremony to be scheduled.

Excellent.

Ochka can register to vote after taking the oath.

At our ceremony, the county registrar of voters (supervisor of elections) sent 3 representatives to help new citizens complete registration documents.   It seemed most of the 50 new citizens formed a line and completed the registration document.   Perhaps those not registering were residents of a different county.

I was attempting a 'Pavlov' here, but only got one mild rebuke.
I am disappointed.
Actually, it was one of our largest restaurant bills ever.

This morning I was reflecting on what an amazing woman my wife is.

No, I am not inferring that she is greater than many other wives whether local or imported, nor that all (or even most) FSU women will be amazing women.

Nor am I stating that we don't have recurring problems or that it is guaranteed that all will be fine forever.

In her specific instance:

She is taking an overload of PhD courses and teaching a course herself.
She is doing this in a language which is not native to her.
She went through the anxiety and study (even as not difficult) for Citizenship Interview.
She takes almost complete care of all household duties.
She is continuing some yard and garden work.  If I go out to do anything, I tell her to stay in and do her school work, but within minutes she is out working also.
She will soon be tending to a husband who has gone  through an operation.  Minor or not, she will have to miss classes, go through the anxiety, etc.
Even with all of the above, she is always willing for any sex, either just quick for her or long for the both of us.

Oh, and most amazing of all . . . she puts up with me . . . and even smiles.

Could I do the above if it were I on the 'doing' end?  No, I could not.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Speaking of sex . . . which you know I am always reluctant to do.

Recently Dan posted about Jack Bragg.

How many of you remember this about Jack going back 10-15 years or so ago?

He had just gone through divorce with his Ukrainian trophy wife from Odesa after (what) 6-10 years of marriage.  (As I recall, she wanted children after affirming to him for many years that she did not.  But, of course, she may have a different story.).

He gave an interview to a magazine (was it GQ or some such) wherein he was still (of course as promoter of his business) praising the FSU women.

He said:  "Not once in 6-10 years (or whatever) did she ever have a headache; not once!"

That has been my experience also.

What about the rest of you men (and women)?

I'll probably NOT get married if I answer that Q ...   safe to say, SC doesn't get headaches, either ..

Will that change if married ?

A long time ago I knew someone who said, "Get a giant WhiskEy bottle and put a coin in every time you have sex"... When you get married, "take it out every time you have sex  ... you will not need to borrow from the bank"  ..

He was not married to a FSU woman

38 years experience, 3 WW LT relationships, one FSU wife, none of the 4 ever had a headache. Only one WW(German/Irish mix) thought everyday was too much , but her 3-4 days a week were really worth the wait. What made my FSU wife stand out was 365 days a year(at least for the first 16-17 years), not just 26 days a month. And those 4 days days were just as exciting as the other 26. I never asked, it was not an expectation, just something she wanted to do.

lol....with my American GFs, it would have been suicde to expect something those 4 days
