George HW Bush enjoyed an 80% approval after a 100 hour war.  George W. Bush had a crack military and left office with an approval in the low 30s.  Hitler had a stronger lock and a better military but after 43, it was already over.  Putin has crossed the line from shady politician to butter to tin pot dictator.  He cannot sustain his objectives unless we acquiesce to his new morality.  You authored a thread comparing Putler to Hitler.  What if Hits got the nuke in 44 or 45 because Russia is breaking a part and his propensity to use more violence has been incentized by the personal weakness of the man we elected on skin color.

Russian oil company Rosneft is now seeking a loan of USD 42 billion from funds ear-marked for future Russian pensions as the western sanctions are starting to bite.

All looking good in Russia

Just saying it like it is.

How the world sees Russia, will affect Russians. It's a general statement, but true.

Speak for yourself. Ha. Ukraine had the Berkut and Yanu. Some of the Berkut got smart and fight alongside the patriots...

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

He is ruining Russia. Think of all the countries that are turning away from Russia. Why? Is it some plot from the USA? No. Most of the world is reacting against Putin who comes across as a 'bully'. Countries are afraid of Russia. That's bad for Russia. It's bad for the world. When will most Russians see Putin's dictatorship and move towards isolation as a dark future?

It's simply a matter of national pride for most Russians and I believe it as most Russians still think that Stalin was A-Okay even though he murdered millions of them.  Go figure.

(Please pardon I posted the wrong link about the Russian Orthodox church preaching hatred towards the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church.  Could not find the link again but found this story, which might be why)

Wrong link, methinks.

Thanks Kiwi.  I found it after all, here it is:

excerpt
"During the protests in the Ukrainian capital earlier this year, clergy of the Church prayed collectively with the people on the Maidan, together with rabbis, Muslim clerics, and Orthodox and Protestant churchmen. Ukrainian Greco-Catholic clergy were among the first to publicly speak out against a corrupt regime in Ukraine and openly support freedom of speech, rule of law and human dignity."

The article is not completely accurate.  The Greek Catholic Church had no choice but to report to Rome, as its adherents lived in what was then Poland.

The Greek Catholic Church predominates in Western Ukraine, but not in Central or Eastern Ukraine.

I have no doubt that it's a very complicated situation.  I just suspect that the current animus of the Russian Orthodox towards the Ukrainian Church is likely being directed by the Kremlin.

For those of you who deny that Russians are the scum of the earth.

Over 70 percent of Russians are ready to vote for Putin in presidential elections - poll

Couldn't much of the world have thought the same about Dubya's reelection?

That's the problem with you. You take everything said on a forum too personally.

BTW, it is proven otherwise by the experts.
However, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said the 'very best intelligence sources' showed the surface-to-air missile that shot down MH17 was 'brought in from Russia'. -

Russia is the culprit to this invasion and the continuing assaults on Ukrainians no matter their ethnic origin. They're Ukrainian now not Russians.

No, Russians dont thinks Stalin was OK.
Putin stands for his country.

And in 1939 many Germans thought that Hitler stood for their country as well.

Doll, are you referring to the shooting down of MH17?  I'm sorry, but if you think that "experts" have proved the nonsensical claim that a Ukrainian fighter shot down the airliner, you need to start using other news media as your main source of information.  Even the Russian air traffic control staff (in Rostov) confirmed within a day or two of the crash that there were NO aircraft (military or civil) anywhere near MH17 when it was brought down.
