The British empire ended in 1945. While the great (but also Colonial) Churchill did a jolly good job during the war, which he won, he nonetheless lost the Peace. England quickly lost it's former colonies and political influence. Washington had learned a much more clever game in controlling it's subjects.

Fast forward to present day geopolitics, I see the UK as no more than a lap-dog of Washington. Fitting, I suppose, look back at the situation a 150 years ago. As far as I'm concerned, England is of no significance on the world stage. Germany and France is, still, especially if they have the balls to break With Washington and form their own Foreign policy. If not, I personally can't see what will stop the move towards WW3.

It is a  start !! Let us hope it is the thin end of the wedge. There are other reports floating of training by UK of Ukrainians in the use of some sophisticated weapons.
Just maybe,maybe--the UK has woken up to how big a threat there is from Russia now.


UK stuns Europe by sending troops to Ukraine

The United Kingdom stunned officials across Europe with a unilateral announcement that it would send 75 troops to Ukraine within the month to train the country’s embattled forces in four skill sets – infantry, intelligence, logistics and medical.

“Over the course of the next month we are going to be deploying British service personnel to provide advice and a range of training, from tactical intelligence to logistics to medical care, which is something else they have asked for,” UK Prime Minister David Cameron said on Feb. 24.

“We will also be developing an infantry training programme with Ukraine to improve the durability of their forces. This will involve a number of British service personnel; they will be away from the area of conflict but I think this is the sort of thing we should be helping with.”

I think it's a bit inflammatory to use the words 'British troops' in this context.

More correct to use the words 'trainers, advisors, etc.'

'Troops' connotes guys who are  going to go to the front and fire weapons.

As i'm on here, they're having a show on TV. A former Moscow correspondent spewing a lot of anti-Putin venom in the Company of a couple of russian Norwegians who really said nothing.

At the end of the show there was a couple of minutes of a Russian working in Italy who did as much as he could to tell the other side of the story, before he was cut off because the show ended. But it was very Nice to hear a male voice choire sing the Russian national anthem at the very end.....

And from the Empire, of course, there's now a western world wide campaign to combat the lethal disaease of measles (of which official figures shows no Deaths in the US the past 10 years). So this is all the rage in local media. If it comes from the USA, it must be true, seems to be the sole qualification of being an European journalist.

On and on we can continue, to show that we in the western world are every day less free.

You are almost totally brain dead!  The reason for no deaths in the US over the past 10 years is because of vaccinations to prevent it and wipe the disease out in the USA.  How frigging dumb can you get?

Same is true of Polio over much of the world thanks to the Salk vaccine.

If you want to put your kids at risk, it's your own business.  The only problem I see is that your kids may be spreading the disease to others that cannot take the vaccine or did not build the immunity as a result of the vaccine.

The USA is concerned because we wiped it out and now we see cases of it reappearing  It is a legitimate concern and parents that do not vaccinate their kids are likely to spread it.  Is Norway so backwards that they do not require vaccinations?

Just taking this one point: you now have a young son, and I'm sure that you're well aware that tobacco smoke is harmful in many ways.  You promised a couple of years ago that you would give up smoking as your next New Year's resolution (this, from memory, was just after you had returned from Ukraine with enough cartons of cigarettes to fill your shed, and before Erik was born).

Did you, in fact, give up?

And, in passing, I don't view smokers as variants of Satan - just as people with no other way of killing time (and themselves).  Over time, my late father was able to cut down from 80 a day to eventually give up smoking, a feat which astounded me given the depth of his addiction.  He spent the last 12 years of his life (maybe more) totally smoke-free.  Although he died from cancer, it didn't appear to be related to his smoking.

The UK ( of which England  a constituent part) LOST the war as they entered to 'save' Poland from a totalitarian regime - only to find Moscow replaced Berlin
