Photo hosting - where?
« on: August 22, 2018, 08:19:40 PM »

My photobucket account requires a monthly membership fee. Has since last year. Now my cubeupload account doesn't work nor does tinypic. Does anyone know a photo hosting account I can use? I want to post some photos on my thread. BTW I notice my thread count is 111,333 views last I looked, a few minutes ago.

The Trump thread is at just over 42,000 views which means you're more popular. Who are you picking for a running mate?

I have tried that several times and just now again. I am taken to a bot detector where I am supposed to enter the given password. When I do, the click on button doesn't click. I am also having a similar issue with cubeupload. I drag a photo into where I am supposed to and nothing happens. I am wondering if the photo hosting sites are banding together like FB, Twitter and Youtube did with Alex Jones. His getting banned all happened within one day of each other, actually for several of social media sites at the exact same time.

Moby had a beef with photobucket about last year's extortion attempt of delinking files through their site or pay them $499. I'm wondering if something similar is happening now with these other sites? That is pay up or they won't let you third party link (I think that is what it is called)?  Or maybe it's just me and I have some settings wrong? I have an Apple. Photo hosting has been working good until recently. I sure have a lot interesting things I want to post on my thread and they are not about the progress of my diet or of my blood glucose levels.  :D

flickr.com

That's where I host and one can set viewing restrictions on photos Public, Family and Friends and you only

Unlike Google photos ( or whatever it's called this week) it does not reduce the file size and once can choose what size file to share

The best part of all is when the owner of a grave yard forum decides to post one's photos on his forum ... simply rotating the image - changes the file name and the link fails - so you retain control of who can link back to one's images

I am in. Now trying to figure how to post a photo....

Not having any luck yet. I am not sure where to find the download link except the one above is something I found in "share"

Which one do you recommend?
This setting lets you choose who can view and download your original image files.
Restricting this setting also places deterrents to discourage downloading of your other sizes. (And we really do mean "discourage.” Please understand that if a photo can be viewed in a web browser, it can be downloaded by a knowledgeable user.)
[/size]Who should be able to view and download your original image files and other sizes without deterrents?[/color] Only you
 Your friends and family
 People you follow
 Any Flickr member
 Anyone (Recommended)

I just got a call from my dentist. My crown is done and they want me there in less than two hours. So I'll be gone for a while. The rush hour traffic here is crazy.

It really went well. I even got some photos. If I figure out how to post them, I'll do it tomorrow. Thanks for your help Moby.

Great to hear.

Now, once you've got some photos up... you'll be asked if about sharing settings - you can edit, later - the next task is to learn how to show them on here... !

Go to your photostream and ensure the photo you want to share is set to public and safe

Clicking on the arrow turning to the right ( sharing ) will bring you to options, like below:

Choose bbcode - if you don't see it - it is a bug - quit and re-enter flickr - repeat above -  it will appear as an option

Select the image size you want... If you chose the original - it can be expanded by clicking on the image by the forum's readers

copy and paste the bbcode into the place you want the image to appear on here... but then DELETE the code up to   the opening square brackets  img   and after     the square brackets - with forward slash - img

You'll end up with your shot showing like this:

You can click quote on this message to see the format of the code for the images

Good luck !

It sounds hard- but once you know how - it's EASY ... and fast

If you get stuck - I can share my screen and demo it to you )

You misunderstand. I posted a link that had my name on it so I went into modify here and typed in "no"   To get rid of the link with my name on it.

You just click on the BBCode share link - for the size you want - it highlights in blue - you can then copy it ...and THEN edit out all the 'crap' either side of the two coded 'img' s ))

Screen Shot 2018-08-25 at 1.02.07 AM by XXXXXXXX, on Flickr

I get something like this only I modified the above so it does't link to my name.  What I did to host a photo was to copy just the second line and use that.

I copy it but get 4 different lines of code to post one of which leads me to my name. If I selectively copy the second line and take off the  on the ends of the second line I can use that to post a photo. I am sure there is a better way of using it. I know cubeupload and tinypic there are selections lines of code under the photo you can chose to post. I  think with flickr there is a broader selection. I am figuring this out. I am sure it is easy once I figure it out like you said. I did manage to post 2 photos of Jayne 'JM" my girlfriend

I'll get back to it a bit later. I am working a number things

1) Diet and figuring how this effects my diabetes.
2) Exercise (a bit later) and how it will affect my diabetes
3) Weight loss as result of first 2 above
4) Planning out my return to the Art world (oil painting)
5) Learning various dishes to cook for the reasons I talked about in my thread.
6) And learning Russian

I got a bunch of other things I am working on like finishing up my dentistry and getting my eyes checked et cetera. I have 2 months and a week here in Tbilisi to get these things done before my return to Batumi. I'm pretty happy I have things to do and goals to achieve.

"Planning out my return to the Art world (oil painting)"

you're a painter?
I am as well
mainly watercolor
how easy is it to buy supplies there?
I did purchase some Russian watercolor and oil paints in Moscow last month, haven't used them yet, so I don't know quality
almost nothing in Crimea, you'd have to use the old materials, manufactured by nature and not by man
advantage of living in a country served by Amazon, I can have supplies here in 48 hrs
what are your preferred subjects?  I prefer to do human portraits now, but sometimes I find myself returning to nature
what inspires you?

care to share some pics?
I'll show you mine, if you show me yours!!!
