Coming to America!
« on: November 18, 2015, 04:55:58 AM »
So for the few that know me and my story, I just wanted to update you. Polina had her K1 visa interview today. She was approved and should receive her visa in a few days.  She elected to pick it up, instead of having it mailed to her home.  It's been quite the journey getting to this point, but I already know it's more than worth it!  Many thanks to those who have offered their support and friendly advice along the way.  She should be in the U.S by next week.

He's probably tired of me thanking him, but I owe Larry a huge THANK YOU!  He was the one that suggested the website that I met my future bride.

Congratulations Tag.  I can still remember how exciting that phase of my journey was and how every second of waiting seemed to go so slow.  The K-1 process seems to take forever but when you look back on it then it seems like it went faster.  Good luck with everything and I am sure the two of you will be very happy.

Congrats Tag, I wish you and P the very best.  Your trip report was testimony to your class and sincerity.   You made a lot of friends on here, and I hope you will always count me in that group.

Tag, I missed your story.  Perhaps you reported it during my hiatus.

Anyway I write to congratulate you and wish the best for Polina.   Your life is about to change, and it will be filled with much joy.

A number of questions will arise, yet based on what others said you seem to possess what it takes to collaborate  with Polina to find answers.

There will also be some frustrating moments.  In my experience, those moments will be even more frustrating to Polina.  She, not you, is the stranger in a strange land, and her support group of family and friends are not near.

Oh God, time to start cleaning....

Why bother?  ;D  She's only going to do it all over again, with the standard "guys can't clean for #$%^&*" mantra!  8)

The only solution is to ring around, and find a local RW who can come in ahead of Polina's arrival.  Then you MIGHT get away with it.

Congratulations from me too.  :couple:

Don't thank Larry so fast. He'll be going after your first born in the future. Didn't anybody tell you his advice isn't free?

It's a nice feeling to direct guys on the right path and help them make good decisions but Tag, you still had to do most of the work to get Polina's attention, visit her and successfully court her. Grats on a job well done.

Several reasons. First and foremost so he can find and toss all remnants of previous loves, pictures, mementos, undergarments to make sure they are gone. Despite all his efforts she probably will still find some.

Secondly, the way she finds the house will be the standard and yardstick going forward that he will be graded as a slob. Just the way it is.

Thanks again to everyone for the well wishes and congrats.  Polina will be arriving this Friday.  As you can imagine we're both very excited!  I know the real challenges start now. We have both acknowledged that this will be more than an adjustment for both of us. We talked a lot about conflict resolution and keeping the lines of communication OPEN. Neither one of us are hot-heads, so we're pretty confident we will be fine. Even with all that being said, I know this is require an extraordinary amount of patience on both our parts. I'm guessing more mine than hers.LOL

Thanks again to the ENTIRE forum for your help and guidance throughout this process. I'm not saying this is it and mission accomplished. Not at all!!! I know this only one part of the amazing adventure.  I will continue to check in and continue learning and hopefully help others that maybe seeking an FSU.

I would say, pay it forward with a blog but only you know if that's a good idea.

I let Angel Eyes rearrange everything except my home office. She did rearrange
it anyway but I un-rearranged it. That went back and forth a few times, but she
finally gave up on it (mostly*)
