If we're talking failures in the economy, I would point out the US' investment in mortgage backed securities to right the financial system.  The TRILLIONS of debt held, as a result, has created an intermediate term dearth of liquidity.  While the US will weather the storm, this action has created precedent for future such actions which our country might not be able to obtain a soft landing.

Funny how deregulation works, eh?  ;)

And the Affordable Housing Act too.

This is where the Russian system starts to break down whereby Sergei is robbed of his idea, and the idea now withers on the vine because it has been taken over by people who don't fully understand it.

Happens more in other countries obviously.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

I disagree. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development was very solvent prior to the mass deregulation of Ronnie Gonzo.

Does this not fall in the category of "spilt milk"  with everyone having had a hand on the milk.   It's over.  Move on.  No need to cry.

The lending institutions now seem to have returned to the same difficult albeit sensible mortgage qualification guidelines I knew when working my ass off to buy my first house.

One more disagreement. No need to cry? Tell that who lost their houses and I'm not talking about the extreme cases. I'm talking about your regular middle-class people.

Move on? Towards regulation.

Similar in Russia it is foolish to expect that corruption suddenly stops to exist just because of a changed political system.

Shadow, when the corruption remains--the system has not changed.
