Godmother and Godfather rules in Ukraine
« on: June 21, 2019, 04:39:53 PM »
Hi,

I have some questions regarding the concept of Godmother and Godfather as practiced in Christianity in Ukraine.

So, let's say, two people, a man and a woman are chosen as the godmother and godfather respectively for a child during the religious ceremony of Christening.

Is there any religious rule which states that the two people who are chosen as the godmother and godfather respectively cannot have any relationship with each other? They cannot marry each other?

I would like to know more about it.

Thanks.

The Godmother can have any Godfather she wishes.

All she has to do is . . . Make him an offer he can't refuse.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

sure...
when both my daughters were baptized in a little village Orthodox Church near Yalta, her God Parents were chosen by my wife...
the only rule about God Parents in Ukraine...
is you never talk about God Parents in Ukraine

your question is akin to asking, "are there any rules for farting in a church in Ukraine?"
and the answer is, "no, you can if you want to", even in front of other people...
but if you fart in a church in Ukraine, you should always say, "Yalky Palky!" out loud, just to be polite!

BTW, covid-19 is raging in Crimea now in Evpatoria, partial quarantine already going on and will likely escalate in stages
