So I never really thought I would be considering this but I have come to be thinking about doing a PhD part time in the near future, possibly next year. Now I never wanted to do a PhD for the sake of just doing one but a topic has come about that I think I can do well and potentially be beneficial for me to do. That said there is no way I want it to take over my life so it would have to be a part time affair over six years.

I'm quite happy doing it that way as I can continue doing other stuff and still have a life/earn money. Now I know a lot of FSW apparently like a guy who is intelligent :) so perhaps it may also be a bonus for me there as well. Whether it would turn out to be financially beneficial to me is a bit up in the air. Any thoughts on the idea of how it may go down with FSW?

How about studying to be a Doctor of Love? You'll easily attract women with money and they'll take care of you. Or you can attract a supermodel that will rock your world.

Math, science, or literature isn't going to get the women. Why waste time getting a Phd in anything other than love? Start sharpening your social skills and eventually women will love you long time.

Not too often BillyB and I  agree...THIS is one time..

Trench, you spend too much time 'thinking and theorising' as it is..

A PhD will boost your ego...not much more...You do not want to work too hard...

If you introduce yourself as Dr Trench they will expect you to treat their ails.
But really?
The lengths you’re going to and still failing at attracting any women should be telling you all you need to know.

Trench, I’d like to meet you IRL and try to figure you out in person. Are you up for that?

True, I've learnt in life that in the past I have taken the hard route and put too much into it when I would have been better to just do a good job and not go overboard.

I'm not suggesting doing one to boost my ego, it might in the off chance. I know many people do that and its been something I would not wish to do. So I'm not saying I want to do one for the sake of it. To be honest it may be more of a hobby on as topic that interests me and I think I would enjoy doing and could do well at.

That said even part time may be a chore possibly. I would have to do about 12-15000 words a year. That's easily doable but may still take up too much time than I would like.

Indeed, Billy is right I do still need to focus on love/relationships etc. That I actually put in front of Uni stuff even though it's not been a straightforward task for me so far.

Yeah, I've decided on this one that I'll just do research along the way casually in my spare time here and there. If something comes together I can get most of it done then do a PhD so I'm not under any time pressure or it getting in the way of looking for a FSW. After all I would want to enjoy researching the area and when your on a course doing it because you have to that can take a lot of the enjoyment out  and it can become a chore I think, which is the opposite of what I want.
