I know AJ has been open in posting pictures of himself and his wonderful lady, but, I am reluctant. I posted photos on that inferior site shortly after my marriage, but, I don't feel the inclination to do it here. Why? I don't that answer. I also have noticed that many folks here have also chosen not to post photos of themselves, so I think I'm not alone in my decision. When posting pics, these pics are available for the world to see. I'm just curious why other folks have not posted pics of themselves?

Never understood why some people have some wierd sense of secrecy with pictures. My attitude is, if your that paranoid about it you shouldnt go out in public and let people see you. I can more understand not posting personal information that might be private, but the photo thing is pretty silly. Then again there are some pretty unattractive people in the world. If people are that ugly I would hope they dont post a picture.... and not come out in the sunlight. :P ;D :D
PS. Everytime I post people see my pic.
-
My wife is very particular about where I post our pictures. Even though she never visits RWD, she thinks it is a site for meeting women. I cannot pursuade her otherwise. That is why I left the picture up for only a few days. This is another example of how she never wants outside help and does not think a support group for men is beneficial.
-
Most people do not understand how small the internet can really be. How many 'guests' have come and gone reading all the posts we have here? I have been surprised how some topics and posts have been brought to my attention by persons I never thought would have seen them here. A public forum is a 'public' forum.
-
Daknack is correct. What are people so worried about? If you or your wife look like you have been hit with a bag of nickels then do spare us the horror. It is true that beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone.

I don't know. I love to look a photos of people. With that said I will agree that this is a public forum. With that in mind would you paste a photo of your wife on the wall of a public restroom, the side of a bus, or staple it onto a telephone pole? If not then why in God's name would you feel compeled to post it on the Internet?

Danack,
Only those people who are personally known to me and my wife will ever get photos of our family. Even if you came to our house with your own camera and took pics, I'd expect you to have the common decency to ask our permission before publishing our pictures on the internet.
It just isn't done in polite company.
-
I certainly understand peoples aversion to posting photos.
For me the largest public forum, is right outside the door.
wether i wanted it or not, my ugly mug is often on dirt bike magazine sites or news stands, not a public figure by any means,or stretch of the imagination, but still it isnt unusual to be photo'ed for variuos reasons...
the other side of it is:
heck we are headed to a resturant in about 30 mins..
about as public as it gets lol
so wether someone saw our photo somewhere before,
seems irrelavent.i just wouldnt care.
If my wife did not feel the same about this topic,
i would absolutely respect her wishes, and not post hers.
I mostly post photos because i enjoy putting faces to a names,
and can hardly expect others to do so if i'nm not open about it.*shrugs*
Not sure why really, but to me its interesting to see the members, photos of thier trips, where they went, who they met..(if applicable..it just gives more meaning to thier stories here.
then agian,
maybe its i just dont read that well and need the help of photos..LOL
but its quite understandable when people dont feel the need to post any!
-
AJ, did you ask your dog for permission to post her photo?
The second most favorite RWD feature is the picture gallery. It's fairly new, just wait till there's tons more pics in there.
Most people post pics because they aren't ashamed to and want to display their pride, which could be their wife and new children. I don't see no problem with that. I like visual examples the best. People can talk up a storm on how good their marriage is and a pic can say a thousand words. The woman could be into the man or not.
I understand those people or wives who want to keep there lives private too. Some guys don't want thier pic up for various reasons that can damage them career wise since the people in this process are stereotype. Have any of you ever seen a lawyer put his pic up in these RW forums?
-
Billyb,
My photos can be obtained. If a person provides his photos to any person, it's like keeping a secret: Don't repeat this but...
You did make a statement that I need some education on. You stated: "People can talk up a storm on how good their marriage is and a pic can say a thousand words." You use "people" that could mean any couple anywhere. What people are you referring to? I cannot recall even one person "talking up a storm" about how good their marriage is. Perhaps that's your interpretation of men who are married. But, you say "a pic can say a thousand words." I would like to know only 100 words of the thousand words that a pic can say, if a pic has the ability to convey words.
Mark
-
Mark,
I wasn't the one to invent the phrase "a picture can say a thousand words". And I'm not about to count the words any one picture says and I'm not going to get into detail about what it means to educate the people who has a hard time understanding a common saying. Haven't you ever read of a guy who thought the woman was into him and based on the photo, she had no attraction to him?
As far as people talking up a storm. I said people can(not did) talk up a storm. But guys, such as yourself and I, do talk about how great their(our) wives, fiancees and girlfriends are. Some guys talk with a slight breeze, others, such as I, talk at hurricane force. Make what you want out of those weather conditions.
-
I would like to know only 100 words of the thousand words that a pic can say, if a pic has the ability to convey words.
C'mon Mark, tell us that you REALLY don't see ANY difference in these two pics. Tell us that niether one "tells" you anything at all about the subjects ::)

Sure it does. It tells you the guy in the bottom photo had a better tailor and being on a boat makes you smile. Send the photos to A. Connon Doyle if he was still alive and he would tell you every detail of their life including what they had for breakfast. But of course Sherlock Holmes was just fiction.
I think we all do form impressions from photos though. For those who have been here long enough to remember Miss Sensuality, everyone seemed to form an impression from her photos. You are right jet, those photos don't tell you much of anything yet we all seem to form our impressions of gals more from the photos than what they say in their letters.
-
For those of us unlucky soles who are not so fortunate to be married to a Russian/Ukraine woman can we post photos of our Russian/Ukraine girlfriend?
-

Please do, so here we are Luba and Joe
-
I dunno Turbo..
I've always believed that the optical 'fit' of a couple is important.
Quite honestly when I first saw your avatar pic with Luda, my immediate impression was 'something is not quite right', similar to my reaction when Al's pic (that Jet reposted) first appeared on the board. Clothes and setting has very little to do with it.
-
Well, based on the results BC, you were right.

Yo, Turbo dude, that would be A. Conan Doyle. My thought on seeing the first photo was that it was made in Moscow in the early winter or the early spring.
The fellow in the second photo must be on the short side. Either that or his lady is somewhat tall.

Too many falls, helmet first, will make one a bit more compact.
(Sorry, I just had to say it...) ;D
-
one photo may or may not tell much of a story..
as anyone can be caught in a weird pose or "look"
in Als case it was a couple photos that made me think she wasnt happy to be with him really.. there was never a photo were it looked like she was a happy camper...*shrugs*
again it doesnt prove anything,
but after a few instances ,
and the fact people tend to post nicer photos if they have them....
it would seem to stongly indicate he dint have any nicer shots....
and that seems a sign of things??
(maybe something as simple, as she doesnt like to be photographed! )
Turbo- boats? my wife knows i have two small boats for a reason.
as there are no divorces in my family, only *unfortunante* boating accidents ;)
Peewee -
yeap i'm short! @ 5'8! and not likely to grow much.
my wife is tall for a woman at 5'9
but the requisite 4 inch heels always make that difference appear a bit larger!
lol
Fred! lmao!
This morning she was asking me how many times i had been put under anthesia, for variuos injuries.. i said i couldnt remember, under general maybe 8 or 9?
she then worried and decided i dont have much longer to live!!!
as she had *heard* that it takes 5 years off your life for each time fully "under"
;)
(and yea i did compression fracture my T6&T7 vertbrea once upon a time ,,so i might be a bit shorter for it? lol ,no crash ,just landed too hard..)
-

AJ, I knew your good nature would accept my jab in the humor it was intended.
I have 4" on my wife, but even at 6'4". I still have a hard time competing with those heels.
I think a lot of the differences you see in pictures depends on the age of the subject. Seems that the younger RW are more willing to give a big smile for the camera. We have a number of family photos of my in-laws and various aunts and uncles, and even during fun times outdoors and with good food, people seem to 'get serious' when the camera comes out. I've been able to avoid it as I'll take dozens and dozens of digital pictures, and eventually a candid shot will find the fun spirit inside of the person. Many of the more serious shots seem to take forever to get the shutter clicked, and by then, the look is more of a scowl than a smile.
A good example is a photo of my wife, in front of her car. She sent the picture home to her family, as she was also wearing her new red leather jacket (with matching purse and shoes, of course!). Our son was taking the picture, and my wife had that typical RW scowl instead of her usual smile. Mostly due to her frustration of getting our son to stop fooling around long enough to take the picture.
Fast forward to Russia, my sister in law looked at the picture, and started crying, thinking that my wife was sad in the picture. Of course, Mama joined in with the bawling. We all had a good laugh about it afterward, but it is interesting what "things" people see in a photo that really don't exist.
-
Fred! great example of how little a single photo can mean.
and i agree on Russians being more seriuos in photos..
heck look at photos in the USA a few decades ago..
very seriuos faces , almost always.
your story brings up another RW "generality'.. LOL
in "general" if a RW can take something (some act, something said ,or a photo) two ways,
negatively or positivly,
negative is the preference it seems!
;D
YMMV buteven a sunny duispositionmed RW will generally by negative about the *unknown* or *unproven * , compared to us goofy westerners.
-
It's more than just smiles.. look at the body language.
In AJ's second pic she has her hand around his neck (he's mine).. in the other, even though we can't see it she was squeezing his butt.. That explains the 'mouse ate cat' grin she has on the boat and AJ's silly ear-to-ear colgate smile.
-
It's more than just smiles.. look at the body language.
This is a candid photo that was taken without us being aware of it. When I saw it for the first time it told me everything I needed to know
-
I don't really have a clue why people don't post their photo's....especially the really happy people. I would never make fun of anyone's photo period..no matter what I thought. Now I would play with AJ about being short of course but hell, what does AJ care about that since his wife is beautfiful! ( Im 5'8" too by the way AJ...on a tall day...when its hot outside..)
So you may be older than some guys...so your girlfriend may be better looking than all of our wives and girlfriends put together.....as long as YOU are happy, who cares what we think. It's just fun to see everyone and put faces to the crowd for me.
-
Here is a scary photo. A photo of a friend taken at Peewee's home. Judging by the table cloth I'd say Christmas time. United Airlines "Fly the Friendly Skies. " Southwest Airlines "You're free to move about the country." Continental "We'll really move our tails for you." Aeroflot "What in f**k you want?"
peewee
-
PeeWee, that is funny!!!
-
PeeWee, that is funny!!!
I joke but Aeroflot has gone to great effort to improve their attitude toward their customers. Lots of inflight service training for their flight attendants. They had only one little slip up last summer. Seems two flight attendants assaulted a passenger. In their defense the passenger was drunk.
Peewee
-
Think this says it all about Aeroflots image LOL... :hairraising:
-
Some really nice candid shots in this thread,,
jpjr, donaz , captmonk,
those are the kind of casual photos that i really enjoy seeing, but of course wouldnt likely end up in the gallery...but very cool.
peewee, now thats funny!
Killer B, thats NOT funny ! :o

LOL ! no i wouldnt mind, been short all my life!! since childhood even!!
be a bit weird to get disagreable about it now , wouldnt it? ;D
anyway Flowers are a big thing in our house..
much more important than my height! lol
and yes she appears very tall.
-
AJ,Donaz-ur wives are incredible!

Here is one of my habits. And my lovely wife took these photos. If the picture isn't clear, it's a 14 inch crappie. She had to stand upon the island in our kitchen to take these photos. I brought home many this day, the result of 3 guys not catching many fish, so they gave them to me. I filet these fish so there are no bones, but my wife wanted a couple the traditional way, gut em, cut the heads off, scale em, and cook em, and she was ok with using the kitchen sink. I was able to get a good "southern gal" from Russia.
So, in less than 100 words, this photo shows I love to fish and my wife likes the results. But, could you determine what I wanted to say with the photos only by themselves.
BillyB,
I know I have a tendency to debate, I think this thread is leading to having fun. I stepped up to the plate and posted photos, who will be next?
Mark
-
I can't say I like fishing and I'm not sure I caught this one myself ;D

Mark, your wife didn't salt them babies down? Reminds me of the last scene in the movie "A Foreign Affair" where Arquette's St Petersburg bride fried up the family gold fish.

Nice fish ! mark and wild orchid!

Now you don't think I would only post fish do you?
Jet, your comment with the photos was something I wanted to drag out, but, you got the ball rolling. You should be a Manager of a baseball team. You did get folks to step up to the plate. I wasn't sure how many folks would post photos, but, I'm stepping up to the plate. I wonder if any of the other posters will walk up to the plate and react. Perhaps we can expect some strike outs?
Here's a few pics:
A couple of the pics are from our visit to Hawaii.

PeeWee,
My question is rhetorical, hopefully not taking away from the subject, which is men stepping up to the plate and posting pics, and the single guys are exempt unless they choose to post a pic. But, when I go fishing, I'm reminded by my fisherbuddies that when we are not catching fish, that's the reason it's called fishing instead of catching. I'm tempted to draw a correlation between fishing, catching and finding an FSUW, but, dang, I'm not that redneck.
-
1WW, she is sooo lovely. I like the second picture most of all

Not exactly what you have in mind but I want to show you the picture of my man and his “lucky hat” ::) and his catch ;)

That's the spirit Mark. I've got spirit too.

BillyB,
Those are very good photos. Thanks for stepping up to the plate. I can say that a thousand words is too small to nicely describe your photos. Way to go.
Mark
-
Batter up!
-
OWW ~ that ain't a fish it's only bait size. ;)
Wild orchid that is some fish you and your man both have! nice!
Here is a yellow tail tuna that Yulia caught in Mexico last year.
-
Mark,
It has been a while since I allowed myself to be baited by you, but this time you win!
KenC
-
Kenc,
I'm very impressed by your photo. You make a very good couple. I think we are just having fun now. Who will be the next batter to step up to the plate?
Mark
-
Donaz,
Now that fish is a keeper. Of course, I don't compare the Halibut I have caught to the crappie I have caught. I've only had one trip to Alaska so I have to stick to crappie. Now, I have caught some catfish the same length as the fish in your picture on jug lines. But, crappie are much better for eating.
It's good your wife likes to fish. Although my wife has fished with me once, she would rather go shopping. But, in time, either she will go fishing often or I will be shopping often.
Mark

While we are on a fishing theme, here is one that Lena caught in Sedona, AZ. Of course Don will tell a tall tale about how Lena stabbed the fish with her high heels, but don't believe him. You should ask him about the "big one" he hooked into though...... ;D
KenC

Nice photos all. We haven't fished yet so I'll post an older one of mine. Not the largest but the best tasting...
-
jb also likes to fish
-
And since some of you would like a glimpse into the life of jb and Etna:
The handsome dude on the far right of the group photo is none other than our own CaptB, the skinny guy on the left is #2 stepson who's photos you sometimes see here.
-
Wow jb,
I always knew Etna was a classy and inteligent lady, but I never knew she was so beautiful! You did very well, my friend.
Here are a few more of my sweetie:
-
Ken,
She's an absolute stunner~!
-
Ken and JB-- you both have beautiful wives! Congrats :-)
-
I think it's God's own law that all brides are beautiful on their wedding day.
However, you should know that beneath that beautiful blond exterior resides a tough, smart, highly over my simple head, extraordinarily able and talented woman.

Yep, beauty is only skin deep and is a negative factor, usually. Smart guys go for the personality and brains. Lucky smart guys get it all-- brains, humanity AND beauty :)

I can not keep up with you guys in appearance (hope to get better looking when I am older) , but as long as we are sharing pictures here is one from me.
Shadow, Mother-in-law-to-be, and Mila.

The wine was for the ladies. Father and me finished a bottle of Armenian brandy that evening. I am keeping up with the Yuris in drinking ;)

I like to look at pictures in details...for example...what's that bottle of blue things on the dresser behind AJ's wife? :::scratches head:::

Ok, my wife on her birthday in 2005.

One more. You should know the location.
-
Ha ha. Captain Monk made me take a closer look at that photo. He notices some blue bottle. This is what I noticed. ;-)

Guys, it is very nice to look at the pictures of you and your beautiful wives… I must say some of you I pictured a little different in my mind… but it is simply great to see so many happy families!
Here is mischief and her hubby:

LOL ... still my husband with and without a pony tail... the second one is definately not flattering for him though... he is a great guy anyway!

Speaking of the resemblance... i think AJ looks like Tom Cruise, no offence in case you don't like the guy (TC)... ;D

Aeroflot "What in f**k you want?"

Hmm sounds like my hotel stay in Chernoye More, because I missed my pick-up. Luckily, it was just for one night. Then I moved to a nice fully funrished apartment. For half the nightly rate of the Chernorye Suka More Hotel. Ukraine International Airlines from Vienna to Odessa and back was rather cheery. Next time, I'm going to make sure I'm seated further towards the front. On the way home, I had to settle for Heineken. The Ukrainian men in the front part of the plane, drank all the Slavutich. >:(
When I get back, I'm taking lots of nice pics. My future in laws will be present in many of them.
In Odessa, do not stay at Chernoye More. You pay 4 star prices for 1 star service. The lady at the front desk was being a real Kyobanoi hoya suka. It was my first time ever in the FSU, and it was a nightmare. Luckily, things got better after that.

peewee- you sure you arnt micheal keatons brother in that last photo..?
afiancee- thanks!
and we have seen your very nice photos in one trip report? ;)
mischief- what great photos!
and thank you for the compliment ! I have heard the tom cruise comments at times,, i tell my wife its because tom and I share crooked teeth, big noses, and being short! LOL
This thread has so mANY great photos..OWW, Clyde, BillyB,CaptMionk,DonAZ,shadow ,mischief,
and all the others! very cool! :)
as long as i've been around i think thats the first public photos ive seen jb or kenC post.. and those are exceptional !
Jooky- LMAO! i would have never noiticed that!
Captmonk- that blue bottle is "pounce" cat treats for that fuzzy persian she is holding..
funnier yet , that cat has no interest in them, prefers regular dry cat food..
but my "alley cat" as my wife calls her, likes them well enough ..to retrieve thrown items, or fetch like a dog for them..lol,
she will also ,sit, beg,,come, all the usual dog commands
-
Ha ha. Captain Monk made me take a closer look at that photo. He notices some blue bottle. This is what I noticed. ;-)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I was wondering if I was the only one to notice the "maxim mag" type picture! Now I feel like less of a perv so thanks

Shut up beatch...I noticed that too but I have more tact!!
From looking at all these pictures, I DO see that we ALL married up. heh heh Also...FSU girls love to pose about 100 times more than western girls.
-
Danack- LOL thats exactly what that photo in the background is:
one of those deals where they put your "head" on some magazine cover..
maxim, rolling stone, what have you,
i think we got that while in vegas along with a playboy cover as well..
-
I have an extensive collection of maxim ;D I was buying it when no one heard of it. Issue one is quite the collectors item now.

Now I'm confused... Peewee, which one is you on these pictures?
The second photo is Michael Keaton. For years, Mischief, people have told Michael that he resembles Peewee. He must not have belieived them because I have never gotten a confirming phone call from him. I do know one thing, according to the photo, Peewee gets better women than Michael does.

The boat you pictured looks an awful lot like a Post. Very distinctive bow lines.
The one I pictured was a 58 ft. wooden Gilligan, powered by twin 3208 Cats. Nice fishing boat, but very maintenance intensive. I loved that boat, but partied for 3 days when it sold.
BTW, I just love your family photos, they appear so idyllic the viewer just "sees" the happiness in the faces.

I spotted one of those one day over at the Aeroflot blimp base. Thanks for the sunny skies. Should that plane one day go on a diet then it would look more like the Boeing 767 that it really is. Have you ever flown on a long haul Aeroflot flight, Killer? What the do is after the passengers are aboard the ground crew pumps wodka into the main cabin, much like you would pump gas into your car. The plane eventually blows up like a balloon. The Russian passengers immediately begin drinking the wodka like fishes. This keeps the cabin crew free to do their work without interruption for numberous requests for drinks and it keeps the passengers content. So the plane has two loads. Fuel load and wodka load.

Clyde, people used to tell me that I looked like Batman. After hearing it enough times I believed it. So I stared asking people, "Hey, what do you think, do I look like Batman?" They would say..."You looking nothing like Christian Bale. But now that you mention it you do kind of look like the guy in Beetle Juice."

I would like to take a minute to thank all the married couples for sharing your pictures, you hear so many horror stories, but looking at the happiness in all those face's just reaffirms my commitment to join you, I will be going to Volgograd in August to visit the woman that I think might be the one, after talking on the phone several months, she has such a great sense of humor and has me laughing so much when we talk. I told her that right now I am in a little financial straight(just started my own business) and maybe it would be better if you correspond with someone else, but she says no I will wait for you. I just landed a huge contract woohoo!financial problems now over!

Louie,
It is a great sign for you that your gal is interested in you and not just what you can provide for her! Go get em tiger! Best of luck.
Clyde,
Funny that you should bring up the stash. I shaved it off a few months ago for the first time since puberty. Yikes! I felt naked without it and Lena's first words were "how long before you can grow it back?" She always liked it.

I've been looking for pics, suprising how few of us there are together, we are generally snapping each other plus I HATE having my photo taken. Anyway here's one, I look a bit worse for wear actually even though I hadn't touched a drop which is rather worrying...

My critique was about Nadia. You, OTOH, are wanting a shave and need to ditch the sideburns, they make your face seem too long. Nadia obviously sees something in you I don't, but that's lucky for you. You are just not my type. :D :D :D

Actually, It's a '68 Egg Harbor 43' w/ Cummins 308s. Solid Mohog stem to stern ;)
BTW, I just love your family photos, they appear so idyllic the viewer just "sees" the happiness in the faces.
Thanks! I really enjoyed those you posted of yourself and the wife as well. Both Etna and Dima were suprisingly close to the mental pictures I had formed from your writings :).
Nice fishing boat, but very maintenance intensive. I loved that boat, but partied for 3 days when it sold.
Once I lost the slip when the marina was sold, I faced either $1000/mo. dock fees, or unloading it... As much of a pain in the @$$ as it was, I loved that boat. However, this past hurricane season I was real happy to not have to deal with those problems, and stay indoors w/ the family. It now belongs to one of the Rybovich grandchildren (sportfishermen SHOULD recognise that name).
Maintenance intensive? *shucks* I really wouldn't know anything about that ;D

I always thought my face was too round! Nadia likes my hair long so mine is long now, bonus is it hides my face, which is good. I'm going for Jetrim type hair length hopefully in the next 12 months. Also I like stubble cos when I shave I look all babyfaced and Paul McCartney. I'd go full beard for the full Jesus look but unfortunately my Irish parentage comes through, my facial hair goes ginger, and no one wants a Ginger Jesus.

Jet, this bit of tongue-in-cheek is probably lost on 99% of the board, but an Egg Harbor is the Cadillac of sportfishers. I can understand why you loved the boat.
My old boat was called a "Gilligan Boat", so named because the boat used in the TV series "Gilligan's Island" was build in the same set of boat yards in North Carolina, (actually, Hollywood bought a wrecked boat for the series, not a working boat) after that it was hard not to call all the wood construction boats from that boatyard, "Gilligans".
I believe, IIRC, proper name for mine was a "Sea Island Craft 58", which is not very well known except in wooden boat circles. Although I did locate a picture of basically the same boat from the same yard, and of course, more recent manufacture. This one is called the "Dixie Rig". Pretty boat, I think.
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering how I came to own a boat like that, I bought that boat in a sealed bid auction of seized drug smugglers boats at a government auction in Islamorada, Florida. And paid the unbelivable low price of $500/ft. Nobody wanted a wooden boat when they could buy a same sized good used Bertram for $1,500/ft. at the time.

I wish I would have saved my "Hippie" pics.
I never really took a lot of pictures.

I finally decided to sit down & go through this entire thread today. Some great pics & its cool to get a glimpse of people I've sorta associated with over the years but never actually met & to see some pics of those I have met once or twice as well.
Ya'll make great couples & got some beautiful wives & happy families happenin'.
I was going to post a few pics myself but I'll be danged if I can get them to show up, doin' something wrong but not sure what, However my avitar shows us everytime I post so until I can figure out how to get the pics to show up in a thread, thats what your stuck with, LOL.
Had to comment on this though!!!
BTW: If god had meant for man to sail fiberglass boats, he would have given us fiberglass trees
Couldn't agree more Jet, my boat was nowhere near as big or as fancy but it was wood, LOL. Actually my favorite boat for fishing the lakes up in the Yukon was a 22' freighter canoe with a 20 hp Johnson. Nothin' fancy but couldn't beat it for huntin' & fishing. Could carry 4 men & two moose & a wack of fish in it. LOL ;D great for shallow water & getting from lake to lake in the back country, times we'd have to lift the motor & drag the canoe through a shallow stream to the adjoining lake. Best moose huntin' in the world in that back country & the fishin' well lets just say not many folks went through the trouble we did to catch some pretty fine fish, arctic Grayling & King Salmon & Lake Trout that were the envy of many. ;)

Yeah, once you get the men and the beer on board, where could you put the fishing rods? ;D
I like all of the pictures I've seen so far. My desktop computer (where all of my pictures and video reside) is still disassembled from the carpet install last week. I've been surfing from my laptop, which has a clean Windows XP install (thus, no pics). But I promise to throw up a few if you haven't seen them elsewhere...

jb, jet,
wow seriusoly nice boats!
havedonme some charter sea fishing ,,but never had anything but a joghhn boat oe current older model bass boat..
but aj likes to fish also..
i need to dif up some better fishing photos after seeing all these in
here..lol - but one i could find in the puter ..

How do you fish from such a boat?
I've landed a few nice Sailfish, a couple of decent Blue Marlin,
That is what I'm dreaming about, but I'll have to go down south if I want to catch Marlin.
Yes, from this angle it looks different, plenty of space.
-
Wow. I haven't viewed this thread for 2 days and I'm surprised how 2 pictures of fish can motivate men to post pictures of their wives. Of course, I'm only kidding. Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully we'll see some more folks step up to the plate. I would say Kenc stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. Of course Dan may have to increase the memory on his server now.
I'll use a blanket response since there's many photos now and say it's good to actually see the wives and be able to put faces to names now. I went through and read each response.
Thanks again,
Mark

Biggest boat, biggest fish, prettiest wife, or girlfriend. It's like Christmas or world peace. One big happy family. With that said let me add that I have caught a whale from the stern of the Queen Mary, which I own by the way. So come on, Turbodude, bring it!

Biggest boat, biggest fish, prettiest wife, or girlfriend.
I learned a long, long, time ago that someone will ALWAYS have a bigger boat, fish, airplane, house, car, or a younger, smarter, more beautiful wife. ;) I also learned that the bigger, better, faster, or prettier - the more expensive to maintian! The initial outlay is often the least expensive part of the proposition :D
-
Yep,
Even when I had the boat, I used to admire those Bertrams and Hatteras' when they sailed by. There is just something about the rumbling noise of a pair of V-12's that made my little V-8's sound sick. It was enough to arouse an excitement that was definitely sexual in nature. I took comfort from the fact that I didn't have to pay their bills.

106 meter of lenght... Rolls-royce turbine ( 27500 PK )... it was my "home" during 9 year... not really catch a lot of fish at sea and they ware mainly little since my material is more for lake and river... and these ship is not specially large for 160 people !

Sometimes this post reminds me of the old joke about a personals ad. You have probably heard this one a million times. The ad read something like. Wanted to meet attractive, nice woman with a boat. Please send photo of boat.

Speaking of boats, which it seems we are posting more pics of than our ladies, whatever happend to the general who used to post at RWD that lived on his boat with his gorgeous Russian wife? The guy who believe in prenups...

The Captain and RW chimed in whilst docked in Florida about 2 months ago during "repairs" if my memory serves me right - And then was gonna leave before Hurricane season hit... Was heading to the Mediterranean if I recall correctly.... Other than that, haven't seen him online - Am sure the internet connection from the middle of the Atlantic sucks LOL

Well, to be more precise, St. Pete Beach, Florida. I promised you all a few pictures, so here are some from Florida's west coast. A nice change from the cool weather we've had in Vermont, and it was a nice place to spend our second wedding anniversary. Enjoy.

For those who have been here long enough to remember Miss Sensuality, everyone seemed to form an impression from her photos. You are right jet, those photos don't tell you much of anything yet we all seem to form our impressions of gals more from the photos than what they say in their letters.
I really liked her posts and thought she would have added another good female perspective to our community. I was also pretty disgusted at some to the shots she took. They say, " If you got in flaunt it" well she did on both counts and I hope that she found a good man who will treat her right.
Ken
-
I too was very disgusted with some of the comments she received. I will agree she was not long on modesty where her body was concerned. I used to see her pop up on Elena's site as one of their most popular girls. (wonder why) I have not seen that in a while so perhaps she snagged her guy.
Actually I exchanged a few letters with her around the end of last year. If you remember snowball who was head over heals in love with her. I can update you this much. That did not work out. From what she told me Snowball did find himself another gal and is now married. I sorta thought she might be a little uninhibited for my tastes and quit writing to her. She would have been a real asset to RWD and really did handle herself well against the rude and crude comments she received. I hope she has found what she was looking for.

I shouldn't be sharing my problems in this thread, but I don't know where to go for help. The problem that Oksana and I have is so big that she complained to Oprah Winfrey about me spending too much time at the gym. Can I help it that I need to lift weights to make myself feel macho? Here's the photo:
Trying to save my marriage from being a trainwreck, I turned to David Letterman to see if he could help. He joked around but I had to stay serious to find the answer. Finally, he advised me to get Oksana involved in lifting weights with me. Here's my photo with Dave:
I approached Oksana with Dave's advice and she rebelled on me. That's the last time I seek his advice. She doesn't smoke but decided to take up smoking and hang around the poker table with the bad boys. The bad boys looked at her with and odd look. Here's that photo:
At this point, I'm feeling kinda small and I'm 6 foot tall. Take a look: (That's Robert Wadlow, a real person who was actually that tall. I grew up about 12 miles from where he is buried. He died at age 22. His shoes were always in the shoes stores in my town).
Well, we worked things out, began working out together, and we were featured on the cover of Muscle Man Magazine. You'll have to wait for that photo, not only for the suspense, but I have to scan it in.

Cmon Mark, you are only 3 feet tall and the mannequin is 6 feet tall. This is trick photography. Just kidding. That guy is extremely tall :o
I have a friend who is 6' 7" and I worked with another man who is close to 7' tall, so I have been around tall people for years. I am 5' 8".
My stepson is 15 and about about 6' 1" now and wears a size 12 shoe.

I don't have any friends who are 7 feet tall but I do know of a large group of men, many who are in that height range who work together. It's called the NBA. The only little guy in that group that I can think of was Mugsy Boges.

Here's my latest addition to the family photo album. Dima, (Dimitry) youngest stepson, has become a Russian paratrooper. Thankfully, this is just a summer training thing as he goes through ROTC training as he prepares for his final year at Moscow State University to complete his Masters program. He graduates in the spring with a MSEE and hopefully his GC will get him on a plane over here ASAP.
-
more,
I must say he looks less sacred before this jump than the other guys in the plane.

Thanks, Ken,
I'm more proud that the boy graduated high school at age 14 and will finish up with his MSEE at age 21, but he's still a good looking boy in any case. He's worked very hard for his degree, never earning a single "B", all "A"s through 5 years of University without any pussy courses I might add. Like his mom, a real math and physics wiz kid.

JB, the Marty Feldman-looking guy seems about to give birth! Not that I'd trade places with, mind you...
-
jb,
Those are some great photos! One of the guys in that group shot
resembles a paratrooper with whom I shared a train compartment on
my way back to Moscow last month. He asks me, Будете пицца?
Pizza? Did I hear right? He digs into his duffel bag, pulls out a box, and
inside was his Mama's Sicilian deep dish creation. We talked all night
about aviation, the Cold War and Italian recipes...
jb, you've got multiple reasons to be proud. I only hope I can steer
my three daughters towards the achievements your family has realized.

Um, don't they call that a "Red" diploma in Moscow?
KenC
-
uuhhh,,why do I suspect the input of Lena here? Who else would know about the coveted MSU red diploma? Yep, a Red Diploma is what we're talking about. Maximum academic achievement. Magna cum laude is at least 80% all "A"s, no more than 20% "B"s, no "C"s; summa cum laude is all "A"s through 6 years of a higher math and science program. We have our fingers crossed for the Red Diploma.
-
Vaughn,
Thanks for the kind words. Three daughter you said??? Hummmmm....(cogitating here)
For the benefit of the newbies just tuning in, my wife and I have been a couple for a very long time. I had helped raise and educate these two boys for several years before we actually tied the knot. They are very much my sons in spite of the fact that they have a biological father not on the job.

jb,
Very nice pics. Ya know, Dima is one of the rare few guys that makes me reflect on my own life and say to myself "What the f**k have you been doing all these years!"
You aand Etna have every reason to be very very proud!
-
jb,
I was thinking along the same lines Jet wrote. I cringe when I think of all the time, money, and brain cells that I wasted at that age out there trying to "find myself". What did it get me? A few interesting memories and having to go back to school later in life to get a "real job".
Dima has got a great future ahead of him and he'll probably be able to retire and travel the world at the same age that I was just starting to get my sh!t together and catch a clue. You both have - Done Did Good!

I dare to say it requires talent as well, so don’t bit yourself up.
My boy failed his 2 exams, he is changing his course altogether. There are no crossed fingers for us as far as Red Diploma is concerned. We will be veeeeery happy with the Blue one. :-\

To achieve success at any level is what we all hope for in our children. Blue, red, green...whatever...the accomplishment is what is truely important. My son did the same, WO. Two years as a computer science major at one of the most prestigious colleges in the nation. He did not make it but he knew it. Undaunted he began again. A new major, make that a double major. I did not see his readjustment as a failure at all. His mom and I gave him some slack and a whole lot of encouragement. Last quarter he scored the highest test sciore that had ever been scored in a required calc class at his college. That single achievement became his spring board and he is now well on his way. I just want him to graduate from college and to be happy and interested in whatever vocation he so chooses. Be very happy with the blue one, WO. I would be too.

and more,,, after the jump and he has survived..... Actually he and his buddy are very good looking kids and I'm very proud of them, tough as nails, both of ''em.
What I'm wondering is why Dima's friend is wearing an American BDU(battle dress uniform)? Also in the other pic, nobody is wearing consistant styled BDUs. Doesn't the Russian military supply these young men in training with their own BDUs or do these guys go to the local military surplus store to pick up their own gear?
-
Billy,
Understand that these are Dima's university mates. Really just school boys, but under the Russian system, they all have a military obligation, (much like the draft, if you can remember that far back), and they must complete some amount of military training while in school. You may have noticed that Dima is wearing some kind of unit or rank insignia on his collar point that the other guys don't have, I suspect it's just a cadet rank or designation, I'll have to ask him what it is. Because Dima's normal study course load is rather heavy, he opted to do his required training during a summer semister, as did some of the other boys.
You asked about their uniforms, well, the short answer is; "I dunno". To that end I'm attaching another, earlier, photo taken right after they were given their uniform issue. It looks to me like they may have been given some recycled clothing out of the Russian ROTC Rag Bag maintained on campus. Who knows? I noticed in some of the other pics he's sent, some of the boys are wearing the BDU shirt and blue jeans so I have to suspect the uniform dress code is not strictly enforced on campus.
I will ask about that when he gets home in about 10 days.

I think that posting the photos depends on the coupe and if , they desire, others to know. Some people are very private, in their lives, and continue to be so after marriage. Just my thought.

Where should we "post" the photos?
As attachments to posts in this thread, or in the "Gallery"?
And if in the "Gallery," under which topic or category?
-

I understand little in American military uniform but Russian military does supply those who it drafts with Russian uniform. As Dima is a student of University I doubt that he was drafted exactly by Russian military ( as far as I recall in my times students were drafted only for 2 months and only in those Universities which had military sub-faculties ( but not in parachute forces for sure but in those which were connected with specialization those students get in the Universities) and they were supplied with uniform for that period) But times could change and physicists from MGU jump with parachutes parachutes now during summer musters - don't know I have a daughter thank God ;D)
PS Red diploma means 75% of A "perfect" marks at exams which are signed in enclosure list to diploma, ( not all exams are included there), all so called state exams (some exams at last year) and diploma project with A(" perfect " )mark as well and no C marks in enclosure list

That is a good question - one of the 'problems' with having a site performing multiple functions, I guess.
Most people in this topic have chosen to 'Attach' their photos to their posts. It is quick and easy.
If you prefer - or in addition - you can add your photos in the Gallery. We have a number of categories there, including: Family Photos, Wedding Photos, Photos taken in various FSU locations (Kiev, Moscow, etc.), and Miscellaneous. If you do not see an appropriate category, just let me know and I can create one.

Dan, how is it some sites require a poster to use a host site and here we can post the picture from our pc?
-
Other sites host on the cheap, and are limited both in storage space and bandwidth caps. Images hosted on the site need to be stored, and then bandwidth used each time someone calls for the page (and the associated images).
Images hosted on another site just need to pass the link, not the whole image. The site hosting the image is the one using the bandwidth.
Dan probably has obtained a better host, or has deeper pockets. :)
-
Dan probably has obtained a better host, or has deeper pockets. :)
Probably the former ;)
Prices have come down from years past, I recently went with a hosting company that offers 24,000 MB Disk Space & 600 GB Monthly Data Transfer for under $8 per month. (and they are NOT the cheapest ones out there)
Still some sites require outside hosting, or put a kb limit on file size as the more images on a page, or the bigger an image is, the longer it takes the page to load. Some of us with cable/DSL connections forget that there are a whole bunch of people who still "dial-up" and all that cool stuff we see immediately is just a huge frustrating delay to the fax-modem crowd.

I was wondering whether posting pictures indiscriminately can become a privacy issue between your RW and yourself. For me, I would be worried. Not because of ridicule but because something which is special is mitigated by the public viewing it with judgment. Any thoughts?
How does the idea of "privacy" differ in the FSU than in the US/UK/West?

Scanned this old pic to prove that Lena turned my hair grey!

Do you have a close-up for us to examine the roots ? Perhaps she just convined you gray is more sexy ;D :P

Awww comon Ken, that looks like a just for men job if I ever saw one!!!!!! (just yankin your chain a bit)
-
LOL . . . I remember how, when my temples and goattee started going rapidly gray in my early 30's, I went with a fu manchu moustache (shaving the gray middle out) and flattop mullet (buzzing the gray temples down so they looked blond and growing the back out to compensate). Looks a sight, in pics, but in Spokane in the 90's that was still fairly hip. *G*
Until I'm out on a date with this college gal, and she's playing with my mullet, and says "wow, you've got a gray hair . . . oh, wait, here's another . . . and here's another one . . . say . . . how the hell old ARE you, anyway?" ;D

http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/mkportal/blog/dougs.html
For anybody who's interested, it's a kind of photo-chronicle of our 7-year
DS
Why is it 7 if you got married in 2000? Are you counting from the time of your first dates in 1999?
Twenty years old with several marriage proposals from local guys in Krivoy Rog. Perhaps the most successful girl in her apartment block in terms of staying out of trouble and surviving the terrible period leading up to and following the collapse of the USSR. This was due mainly to the industry and drive of her mother, who kept her well-dressed and educated by engaging in the risky business of importing black-market clothing and shoes from Poland. Olga's Mom urged her to "marry abroad" instead of locally. And it was Mom who signed Olga up with "marriage agencies." Olga had many Western suitors, many richer than me, but most older than me and with children or other baggage from previous marriages. I was the third one to actually come and visit her.
I’ve read so many times about several marriage proposals and Turkish boyfriends and always wondered - what that suppose to mean? I guess every man should get jealous reading this stuff, but what sort of achievement is that? And how do you know about this proposals? Her mama told you about them? If you won’t marry her now, you’ll be biting your elbows in the future, there is a long queue of men willing to do just that? On the second thought, I believe she is not from a royal family and doesn’t have Asian or Indian roots, where proposal without relationship is a norm and arranged by parents.

Doug - Nice story and photos in the blog, thanks.
In reading your posts over the years I had never realized the negativity you guys faced, on the family side of things initially.

Why won’t say 8 then? 7 and 8 are close as well. I’m not picking on any one, just trying to understand. I’ve met my husband in 1997, married him in 1999. Am I married for 10 years, according to Doug and Olga it exactly 10 (+ or - 1 year) ;) It doesn’t really matter, I know a lot of couple who count their time together from the moment they met each other, not marriage though. I’m more interested in answers to my other question.

As Dan mentioned , it is my wonderful wife..
we dated about 2 years and have been married 3.

AJ what does your wife think of motorcycles? You two make
a great couple. Nice F4i too! My career is motorcycle related have
talk to you sometime. Spent 8 days in Ca. last Nov down in Corona
at RTech. When you and your wife first met did you tell her much
about your interest in bikes?
-
Durk, yes-
i was managing a race team ,and based in europe at the time. So she knew all about my passion , and involvment in the sport.(which as mentioned on the dirt side of things)
In fact i was traveling to prague for the ISDE race ,,
and decided to take a luittle vacation time and go meet some ukranian women since it was nearby..
I used FirstDream's services, for almost all ukraine logistics and recommendations, as i had been in Europe often and lived there secveral years,,
but had little eastern europe experience , but none in travel to ukraine.
as fars as liking my work, no my wife hates it and isnt happy when i go tssting or racing..its a rub for sure.
as far as motorcycles she likes them,is a car nut and also likes motorcycles ..but never wanted to ride. However , lately, all of her own thing as i never ask her to eride at all..
she has been going and enjoying touring around a bit on the sport bike..
There was a time even the thought of it scared her to death, and, she wouldnt think of getting on a bike with me.. even at 15 mph and being very very careful not to scare her..
tastes and hobbies change..
-
AJ,
Just curious, but is that house next to yours for sale? I think the first thing I'd do if I bought it would be to demolish that ugly wooden fence! For purely aesthetic reasons, of course. :)

Testing (can I make a video play?)...
A quick 40 second video clip from my wedding day. Tradition in Tver is to carry your new bride over seven bridges. I think my wife tried at least 7 different lines of reasoning for me to put her down...
(Say Dan, it's not easy to get under 1024KB. Perhaps you can implement embedding YourTube or Google Video?)

Will check into it again.

EDIT : i have try a method with embedded HTML but it don't work ...
For info, the RC3 version of the software is out... Dan, it is time to upgrade your engine... change from the RC2 to the RC3 :
* Many, many changes for UTF8 support. Read all about it at the Online Manual.
* Many tweaks to the search functionality.
* Added a CAPTCHA option to the registration page (Including audio support for accessibility).
* Added an AJAX loading indicator to show when a server request is taking place.
* All numbers should now respect number format settings.
* Fixed a bug with subject cache being out of sync.
* Fixed speed issues when moving/splitting topics.
* Fixed issues with notifications being sent in the wrong language.
* Many changes to the numerous bridges Orstio has created for SMF.
Security Update
We received a report detailing a bug in PHP (improper deletion of hash values in the zend_hash_del_key_or_index() function), causing a vulnerability in SMF. We have addressed this issue in this release. We urge everyone who is using an earlier release of SMF 1.1 to update immediately.

Bruno,
Did you think about the fact that *if* there really WERE a security vulnerability you would have told everyone in the public forum about it?
Fortunately, there is a patch for RC2 because there are so many people depending on it. The security problems were resolved some weeks ago.
PLEASE - if you have some information, or a concern, about a security issue - send me a PM and *DO NOT* post the information on the open board.
As for RC3, yes, it is true it is released. In fact, it is the basis for the P-L board, so I know a little something about the differences. Unfortunately, many of the mods which are in use here at RWD are not yet updated to work with RC3 - PLUS - the gold version of 1.1 is due out any time now, so most developers are not anxious to work on RC3 knowing that their work will likely have to be re-done when gold is issued.
So.... sticking with RC2 for the time being.

Seven bridges in 40 seconds! And I thought I was in good shape for my age. You must have used the fireman's carry intead of the groom's carry. She must have been a little pissed about that.

Nice bike AJ! My wife hates my VFR but I still ride it now and then. Someday I hope to get her on the back for a cruise through the Sierras. I'm sure that it will take some short trips around the neighborhood to get her confidence up. Of course the daughter thinks that it is great fun but it makes me too nervous to go far with her.
Here's a pic of us arriving in Crimea (6 years ago).

Richard and AJ nice photos :) Olga and I enjoyed very much :clapping:
Richard you both look great! I see you have recovered well :clapping:
Please do post more photos.

Richard, believe me when I say that you've
got a seriously stunning wife!
Is she as good in the kitchen as she is in the photos??
-
I can hardly believe I got it to work!! Glad it did though :)
Thanks guys, just goes to show those young pups even us old dogs can get a hottie. You'd be even more surprise if you knew how old she is, but I ain't tellin', not ready to die just yet, LOL.
Even with my dickdo she still loves me, LOL. ;D
Yes Vaughn, she is very good in the kitchen. A few guys on the board have had the honour to feast upon some of her cooking. Probably why my dickdo ain't gettin' any smaller ;). (for those who don't know, a dickdo is when you belly sticks out farther than your dick do!!!) ;D ;D
Should I come across some more pics she'll let me post I'll do just that.
Yeah Robert, so far so good. Still keepin' the Devil away from the door & makin' him work hard for this soul! ;D ;D

New Year pic of me and two of my wearns.....
Apologies for my long absences, work is hard but the money is good. Plus I've been laughing at the mentalist newbies on RWG for a while to get my perspectives in focus.....
So what's happened? Has jb become nice to newbies? Has Turbo upped his age limit? Has Clyde done another 'last post'?
Nadushka is in Germany on internship in murrican language, i've hopped over a few times, my God those Germans are rude, no idea about queuing and very good at annoying me on pavements. Sorry sidewalks. They walk abreast three at once and stop. Well let me tell you, you may laugh but that is EXACTLY how Nazi Germany started, a lot of pensioners with no idea how to queue and blocking people, the next minute they are invading Poland and bombing Coventry.....
Over Xmas we spent 4 days together in Vienna, Vena in Russian, bloody place was full of Russian. Let me tell you that is EXACTLY how Communist USSR started, a lot of tourists with nothing better to do than take over the top of the the Stephansdom Steffl and buy things from the shop. The next thing before you no it they are a World Power and the Cold War started.
Anyway I'm back home and the Doc says I'm allowed to see people and don't need the crayons anymore. But I'm still allowed to masturbate six times a day which is cool if messy.
Is RVR still alive? *shiite muslim* I promised him a DVD......
S novym godom!
-
So what's happened? Has jb become nice to newbies? Has Turbo upped his age limit? Has Clyde done another 'last post'?
Welcome back Ste,
And as usual, you're always wrong except when it comes to masturbation. jb was in a recent fight with the new guys. Turbo is engaged to a young beautiful woman. Pics in his recent trip report. And Clyde is posting away, he even posted today with no swan song in sight.
Great pic guys, keep them coming. Richard, you need to learn to run faster when carrying your wife down the highway, it looks like the traffic behind you is building up.
-
Ste,
jb still has the age old problem with newbies posting advice to other newbies, that's called; "the blind leading the blind".
I'd just like to see guys wait until they have the tiniest bit of experience before they start to tell the rest of us how it is.
'Sway it is...
-
Steve...Missed ya Buddy, glad to see your back with your usual sense of humor & all is well. ;D
Our best to Nadya, Don't be a stranger!
I was wondering where that DVD got to, LOL, now I know, you havn't sent it yet,. :)
Mail system is deffinitly improving, just got a small package from my daughter, pictures of the grandkids & such. 5 weeks to arrival, regular post, now that is getting to be a record!!
Anyway I digress, welcome back Steve, big Privet to Nadya!!

Guys,
Going to resurrect another thread which has been around a while - and this time, I'll place it as a sticky.
Sadly, there were some embedded photos which are no longer available - but still, there are many photos of our members and their lovely wives.
I hope we will see this thread continue to grow.

Wow, guys, you wouldn’t even believe how this thread clarified lots of things for me.
AJ, I have just had a revelation – ‘a sweet and friendly guy with a dog’ and a ‘handsome dandy dude with a beautiful hottie on the boat having time of his life’ is one and the same person and it is YOU!
And again (for the second time) your wife’s hair matches those reddish pinkish scorpions on the back of the bench in the restaurant, second picture. :D
With the beard / mustash or without it, you are perfect both ways! ;)
And one last thing…you certainly don’t need Maxim magazine anymore (or whatever). Your wife beat them all. ;D
KenC – Wow! I have been waiting for your pictures for so long. :D At laaaaast! Wonderful, you look much better there than on your avatar, even younger I would say. 8)
Ste – I think your best look is on picture 3, short hair cut! Almost like that French actor Jean Reno. ;-)
You guys and ladies look awesome, different than what I imagined before.
Yes, I agree, this is a beautiful and happy confirmation that THIS is worth it!
Thank you everybody SO MUCH for sharing.
-
Ok...
Here's a few that were posted in other threads. I might find some new ones also. ;)
Not married yet - but engaged and all is going well!

I'm really glad to see people still posting photos. We are all just a bunch of lucky guys.
I was in a Russian store yesterday, a store that actually made me feel like I was in Russia, and the owner gave my wife his card. He said I was lucky to be married to a RW. Well, he's correct. I thought Oksana would be interested in buying something from that store but she wasn't. I just bought a beer pronounced Baltika. I recognized the bottle from drinking that same thing while I was in Russia. It was a number 6 Baltika, a dark beer, and I have to say, being an experienced traveler through Germany, that this was very good. It cost $2, which is much than what we know the price to be.
Oksana and I will be attending a wedding later this month. We shopped for dresses, but she decided on buying the fabric and making her own dress. The material she bought is quite flashy in my opinion. I will begin a thread on that subject. But, I will have some photos of her in that dress and will post them here.

Sir, you will never agree with "experience." You just want to be correct. I've got the experience and I don't think you will ever agree with me. But, I'm glad you posted some photos a ways back.

Thanks for all the kind words :)
I just noticed this thread became a sticky..
I always though it was great to get to put faces to the names and stories we read here.

As promised, here's the pic of my wife and the dress she made. Of course, in the pic, you can't see the details of the 1/8 inch loops she made with the strands of fabric she so carefully sewed. There's about 10 loops on the back with 5 strands of fabric. People at the wedding we went to couldn't believe she made her own dress. She didn't need a pattern. She created her own pattern from her mind on paper. What a talent she has.

Lovely picture Mark!
I'll have to remember to show this to Elena when she gets back. She's been eating up the compliments on her clothing and loves it when they ask where she bought it and how much it cost and she just tells them coyly "Oh not much, I made it".

I've wanted to share some photos for quite awhile but I never got around to doing it. I have some free time now as my wife is spending a week in Moscow, her first trip back since she arrived in the US last December. My dad passed away unexpectedly a month ago and she wanted to cancel her trip to be with me but I insisted she go, as she needed to see her own family.
I've received dozens of SMS messages since she arrived in Moscow and we talk daily. While she's happy to see her family and friends, Moscow seems much more dirty to her and full of unfriendly people. It's no longer "home" to her.
Here's my wife a few weeks after arriving. We spent a Saturday at Brighton Beach (it was 70 degrees in January!)
http://home.comcast.net/~marka136/at_brighton.jpg
Like most Russian women, she always takes advantage of a good photo op:
http://home.comcast.net/~marka136/vegas.jpg
Here we are together at the top of Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. We were with another RWD member and her husband, both close friends:
http://home.comcast.net/~marka136/rock_center.jpg
When Simoni flew into town in June we kept him company at his hotel bar:
http://home.comcast.net/~marka136/polina_mark_hotel.jpg
Although we had a very warm Winter, it seemed Spring would never arrive, but when it did we spent a lot of time outdoors:

My wife was married previously and we formally tied the knot in Vegas. We agreed to have a party for family and close friends in July. RWD's Todd and his beautiful wife joined us and afterwards we spent the evening at our apartment sipping wine and trading stories. Polina's mom also attended, and at 50 years old she is stunning. I don’t know if I was more embarrassed or pleased to see many of my male Italian relatives flirt with her!

great photos groov!
thanks for sharing them!

Groovster,
Beautiful woman and beautiful pics. I would say you were a "lucky" man, but you deserve all the good you have found and "luck" had little to do with it.
Please accept my sincere condolances in the loss of your Father.

Very nice pics Groove, thanks for sharing!
That first trip back is always interesting to hear about :D
Echoing KenC, I'm really very sorry to hear about your Dad, my condolences in this difficult time.

The passing of anyone close to you is always a painful experience. Been there too many times. Our condolences to you and yours for your loss.
Great pictures Groov. Lovely lady! Glad to hear that things are working out well. It can be a long and crazy road but it is easy to see that the destination was well worth it!

Thanks for all the kind words and condolences.
I'm glad my dad got to meet my wife, they got along so well that whenever we were together they'd talk so much I couldn't get in a word edgewise!
It's been a long, crazy journey, sometimes I can't believe that I managed to walk through so many pitfalls and missteps and persevere until I found this perfect woman.

Just to add my point of view on the question of posting pictures on RWD...
Unless you have some genuine fear that friends or colleagues will somehow discover the pictures and then use them against you or discriminate against you because of them (seems a little irrational and paranoid to me, but I suppose it is possible), then I do not see any harm or bad taste in sharing your happiness with others who are in this process.
And furthermore, I think the pictures provide a motivational service to those of us in the beginning of our search.
It is one thing to read the trip reports and other posts about successes and finding love and happiness, and the stories are great, but to actually see the pictures of the couples together smiling and clearly happy takes the reality to a higher level.
I find the pictures to be uplifting and motivational because I can really see for myself that success is possible and this process can have a happy ending.
I hope members continue to post pictures of their wives and children because I think it is helpful to many of us to know that in addition to the many stories of disaster, mistakes, and failures, there are plenty of couples living a happy life after successfully finding love.
Hopefully one day I will be posting pictures of my beautiful family here. :D
Thanks for all the wonderful pictures! :clapping:

Not a complement, she's just too good for you.
The opposition is not smart enough to argue such a point full on , so you are just content to hang in there. And that's good stuff too. Kinda the way my wife and I settle scores. Little by little.... Never full on.

Since everyone is posting Halloween pics, here's mine with a local neighborhood kid. Next Halloween, I'll have a pic with my arm wrapped around my fiancee. ;) Surprisingly, I had all the kids, including the ones dressed as devils and vampires, scared of me! I walked strange, had abnormal behavior, and was dressed as a guy who just got out of prison who needed a bath, haircut, and some mouth wash.

My wife and I took a Fall foliage cruise along the Hudson River two weekends ago, here are a few photos. It was chilly but beautiful. In the photo of the George Washington Bridge, you can't see it but there's a great hiking trail that goes just under the bridge on the NJ side along the cliffs. Kind of strange to be in the midst of beautiful trees, wild turkeys, and tons of other wildlife while listening to car horns and engines growling just above :)

I've driven over that bridge a few times and the wind currents can wreck you easily if not loaded heavy. Same in CA. and those Santa Anna winds or along the river approaching Portland, OR as the wind is funneled through the mountains or...
Nice picture of your wife though.

Well, if that is true then I had menopause in '89 and again in '91 when I owned two other Wranglers. Had a Porsche in '86 and then again in '88 and it cured me.
So which is which? :-\

I was waiting for that one! My Jeep is just my fun car. For off roading and driving on the beach in Summer. Having fun decking it out with a loud stereo system and adding things under the hood. I actually prefer bombing around town in it over my BMW X-3. It is funny that Lena doesn't kick too much about us driving in it. She took it to the store the other day and told me it was an antique car, much more primitive than her Mercedes. I told her that is exactly why I like it!

Glad to see I didn't keep you on a string for too long. The Wranglers are a fun vehicle. I had one of the early ones for a time (Personal indulgence) and had a tun of fun with it. Enjoy it/them/her/toy/sweetie ah whatever............enjoy them all.

My wife and I just returned from a week in St. Croix. It was a belated honeymoon for us as I'd promised her a week in the Caribbean just before we were married. Lost passports, work, deaths in the family all conspired against us so we had to wait 1 1/2 years after we were married to take the trip.
Man, it was well worth it, every day we were there was better than the last!

As you can see, I brought this topic back to the open forum. My reason for removing it was that I saw some highly unusual patterns of activity on RWD in the past 3 days, and much of it involved this topic.
I now understand the source of that activity, and consider it to be benign.
There are some people who consider that posting photos of your wife or fiance is inappropriate, or dangerous. Dangerous, in that there are some wacky people on the 'net who might misuse those photos. Indeed, we have experienced some of that here at RWD. Not too awfully long ago, we had one of our members steal photos from RWD and post them at other sites for purposes of ridicule.
My response has been, and will be, that we at RWD are a community of members. We share photos of our family as an extension of the joy we feel. It is not unlike throwing a party and bringing out the photo albums. Not sure about the rest of you, but my wife loves to show people our photos - and to view theirs when we visit others. It is quite normal, and that is why we share such things here at RWD.
Belatedly, my congrats to groov and his lovely wife. What a gorgeous setting for a lovely lady.
Thanks for sharing!

Couldn't agree more Dan.
Our pictures are on a photosharing site as we can control who sees what, and it is interesting to see that the activity went sky high when certain members here followed the links on my signature..
It is interesting to see the stats on what's being viewed, but we can't see WHO's looking ;)
One thing I can say, is that I don't seem to be such an interesting subject ;D .. going by the viewing stats!
It is interesting to put faces to the contributors and their partners and *I* wonder when Oooops is going to show us some of her professional work ;)..

Hmmm. Seems you understate your credentials. It appears you are an award winning and much published photographer. A short google of your name confirms this. Superb photos. And congratulations. Are you strictly digital now?

Ooops,
You have impressive talents. I have seen firsthand a number of the sights you have photographed because my RW wife and I did much traveling for 6 years before marriage. Somehow your photos make the sights seem even more splendid.
You would have enjoyed Laos.

Thanks, everybody. :) I'm glad that you enjoyed looking at my work.
Yes, I do only digital photography lately - got so tired of lugging bags of film with me, worry that some x-ray machine will ruin them, etc. Pixels are much easier to deal with. ;)

Hi guys.
First post and very new to the forum. Known my lovely wife five years and a day and married for just over 4 years.
Welcome to the forum, Carl... good to see another member form this side of the pond.
When / if you feel comfortable, please tell us the story of how you met and your experiences with UK immigration.
-
Welcome indeed. Especially as you're from the UK. There are other sites with a preponderance of UK participants, but I've decided that this is THE site for intelligent and meaningful discussion.
There is always the Gallery for posting more photos, especially of the fine quality standard you've set here!
Welcome.
By the way all, my comparative 'silence' of late can be put down to the fact that today celebrates the end of the first week of my wife being here in the UK!
It's a strange feeling coming home from work and not being sure if you're in the right house, as so many things have been changed, most delightfully! ;D
Nick.

Thanks all for the welcome.
I’m Carl, 42, and my wife is Irisha, 31, and we live in London, UK. I work in Banking-IT and Irisha has mostly been studying to complete a UK law degree, which she finishes in around a month. We plan to start our family any day now so she can focus on her career from there on. Maybe then I can become a kept man for a while so I can rest after supporting her in this expensive city!
She’s from the Tiraspol, Moldova, and was working in law in the Ukraine when we met. I first contacted her online, through a free social networking site called Faceparty, (a bit like an early Facebook), imagining that such an attractive girl wouldn’t chat to me unless it was a scam. When she did I was almost convinced it was a scam but no-one asked for money and I couldn’t see how! That made me more curious and we continued chatting and less than a year later we were married and living in Winchester, UK!
Of course there’s a lot more to the story, both between conversing and marrying and since marrying too, but since physically meeting we’ve never been anything less than 100% happy and committed. I joined this forum because my usual forum, where I normally post on UK general topics and politics, tend to be massively sceptical or cynical when I mention my Russian wife. I tend not to mention it now, but it’s the biggest and best part of my life and I’d prefer to shout it from the rooftops!
Thanks again and hope I can make some positive contribution, gain from some of the wisdom already here and make new friends in the process.
Good to meet you all

Welcome to the forum, Carl... good to see another member form this side of the pond.
When / if you feel comfortable, please tell us the story of how you met and your experiences with UK immigration.
Seems so long ago now that we did battle with immigration. Sorry if this is a bit long but I like the story and the happy ending!
Getting a visa was tricky but the pessimist in me expected a lot worse. Although I usually visited Irisha in the Ukraine, her passport is Moldovan. Moldova has no British embassy so we had to travel to Bucharest in Romania. Fortunately Moldovans are allowed free travel to Romania. Unfortunately Romanians and Moldovans dislike each other!
We went for a UK fiancé visa which gave us 6 months to marry or return her home. I DHL’d her a package with printed copies of all our emails, letters, photos from my visits, 6 months of bank statements, mortgage details and sales particulars for my house, 6 months payslips, birth certificates, passport, you name it and I sent it! Didn’t want to give them any excuse to turn her down.
She was apprehensive about travelling as although Moldovans have to go to Romania for a visa, most only speak Russian and no-one in the embassy spoke Russian. I asked Irisha to find a translator to take along but she was still uncomfortable. Impatience kicked in and I booked 2 weeks off work and flew to Odessa aiming to stay as long as it took to bring her home!
From the family home in Tiraspol, we booked return flights from the Moldovan capital, Chisinau, to Bucharest, plus a night in a hotel near the embassy and a translator who was Romanian but spoke English and Russian. First day there we sussed out the location of the embassy as we had to be there for the 7am opening. We arrived at 6.30am next morning to see a queue off into the distance down the street. We joined the end of the queue but by about 8.30am someone passed what was left of the queue saying in English that they weren’t seeing anyone else today, come back tomorrow.
I stopped the guy on the way back and he said they see a maximum of something like 60 cases per day and that people queue through the night to get a good place! We extended the room, changed the return flight and re-booked the interpreter. Next morning we were up at 2am and off to start that queue, or so we thought. There were around 20 or so people and groups already there. Someone who spoke English told us a man had a list of the people and queue places. We went to register our name on the list and then thought about going back to the hotel for a couple of hours of sleep but didn’t wholly trust them not to sell our place to someone else!
I sent Irisha back for a couple of hours and I held our place. It was cold and started to rain a little but it felt great to know we’d be seen that day. Irisha returned, the interpreter arrived and we got into the embassy. The interpreter communicated well with me in English and my wife said her Russian was good too. We got our place number, paid our fees and waited our turn. Irisha was called in for her interview with the interpreter but I was surplus to requirements. They don’t normally see fiancés.
Ten minutes later they were back. Bad news. The interviewer said the interpreters English wasn’t strong enough. I was annoyed at this as she was fine in talking to me and I thought they were looking for excuses. I managed to speak to someone and they said that they had a Romanian-English interpreter on the staff so we could come back for an interview At 2pm, with two translators, and do a three-way Russian-Romanian-English translation! We did that and I was also called in to answer a few quick queries at the end, my boss in the UK was called to verify my role and salary and we were accepted for the visa!
They said they had concerns at Irisha’s lack of English. I asked how that made a difference and didn’t really get a clear reply but I guess they feel that if someone is genuine about starting a new life in England, they would at least learn English to a good level first. Irisha had been studying some time but clearly theEnglish have high standards for spoken English, which is a bit rich given the way we tend to shout broken English at the Spanish each summer and refuse to try a hola!
Anyway, Irisha came home with me to the UK and we married 5 months later. All other consular stuff was done by post, (spouses visa, indefinite leave to remain) until Irisha applied for British Citizenship. She had a test and a little ceremony and came home with her certificate! She now has a full passport so we’re no longer restricted to holidaying in Russia, Turkey and Egypt and no more need for Schengen visas for Europe. We’ve been to Amsterdam and Prague recently and are booked for Thailand in 2 weeks time.
I’m kinda glad I went with Irisha to massage things through, opposed to my original plan of her going alone, as I think she would have gotten at least one refusal on her file and once you have one it’s much more difficult to get a visa after that. Irisha knew of girls with multiple refusals under their belts. We’ve since also had a six month visa for Irisha’s mother to visit us too. A similar process but simpler and we didn’t have to go along. I think we’ve been amazingly lucky. To have found each other, to have our visa at the first attempt and we’ve been lucky in so many other things through the years, big and small. We’d have gotten through one way or another as I can’t imagine I’d ever have given up on being with her.
It the embassies job to refuse as many people entry to the UK as possible. I’d recommend anyone going into the same visa application process to prepare all possible documents, have plenty of cash in the bank, (show you can support her), and in pocket, (lubricate the wheels of the process), be ready to spend as much as it takes, be ready for the first embassy visit to be no more than a trial run, take a good translator and go along yourself for backup. Most of all show that you are loving, open and supportive and I’d be surprised if they refused a visa.

Beautiful story and fantastic photos! The wedding shots are great :D

Seems so long ago now that we did battle with immigration. Sorry if this is a bit long but I like the story and the happy ending!
Thanks for taking the time to post - this is the most stressful time !
Fortunately Moldovans are allowed free travel to Romania.
Does that still apply? I mean since Romania joined the EU..
Seems to us the immigration rules are getting harder and harder and they penalise the honest..
glad it's all finished for you :)

I think I did and if I didn't - you make a very nice couple! ;)

Well, I finally broke down and posted a couple pictures of my wife in another thread in response to an egomaniac who keeps saying he only wants the top 10% of the top 10% , etc ... in the looks department, and he should have it because he's wealthy, handsome, tall, and just plain wonderful in every way. (I don't mean to divert here, sorry).
So anyway, he's a couple pictures of my wife Ulyana to share with this group. I know you folks will appreciate it for what it is. I'm an average guy in looks and financially, good enough, no superstar. And she truly loves me for all the real "manly" qualities I possess inside. I try hard every day to be the man she thinks I am. (Wow, that would make a good country song, wouldn't it?). After 5 years of marriage, things just keep getting better.
-
Stevie,
What a beautiful woman! You lucky dog!

Ah Stevie! She's a Cutie!! :D

I think it already made a good rock & roll song written by Boston in the 70's (or something quite similar) :cluebat:
Very nice photos, thanks for sharing :)

Hi Steve,
Great photos..
It is clear from what / how you write that you still love her and she appreciates your efforts ;)
..and btw from another thread - YES - it's Mark !
-
Stevie,
Ulyana is darling! Thanks for sharing!
The photos suggest that she is a "live wire" - upbeat, energetic. Your writings suggest that you are the same. I understand how the two of you have something very special.

Ken, Ultro, Jet, Mark, Gator - thank you so much for your kind words. Gator, you are so right, she is indeed a "live wire" !! She really enjoys my company ( and I hers) and that's the key to a woman's heart. Its something I've been trying to get the newbies to understand (unsuccessfully so far) - to attract the woman of your dreams, the most important thing is to be the man she wants to be with - and that starts with "you", if you see what I mean. FSU ladies are funny and wonderful creatures in this way, they really can and do fall in love with a man's inner character and personality.
-
Steve!
Your post gave me an idea.. what about a part of the forum where we post a simple "how we met"
The headings could be something like:
Where you met virtually:
How did you both look? ( profile) :
Where you physically met:
What was your first thought:
How long have you been together:
Wedding photo:
Option - How / where did you ask her/him to be your partner?:
Option: One thing your learnt from this experience:
Example :
Where you met virtually( if applicable) : http://www.luckylovers.net
How you looked ( profile photo) Her: http://www.flickr.com/photos/veta_mark/445822174/sizes/m/
Where was she from: Krasnoyarsk, Siberia
Him: ( trying to find it !)
Where where you from: N.Ireland but living in Cyprus
Where you physically met: an airport arrivals hall in Cyprus
What was your first thought: She's TINY - did I plan to kiss her or embrace her - she got a quick embrace and a peck on the
cheek ! :-[
How long have you been together: 1.5 yrs (July 2008 )
How / where did you ask her/him to be your partner?: Her birthday http://www.flickr.com/photos/veta_mark/1116268930/sizes/m/in/set-72157601434220838/
Favourite Wedding day photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/veta_mark/1430893953/sizes/l/in/set-72157600933826789/
One thing your learnt from this experience: I never want to stop learning about her ;)
So folks what do you think ?..Dan ? Could some sort of table be made where you insert the answers and upload any relevant photos..

Posting Pictures of you and your Lady:
For some reason I think many RW have a little Latina in their veins ..
:)
my wife ballroom dances (yes trained in Ukraine).. waltz, foxtrot, quickstep ,tango , rumba,, the *dancing with the stars* type of stuff,, in more local and regional competitions.
The percentage of FSU ladies (and men) at these events are certainly lopsided,
and likely over half of the professional level trainers/instructors and competitors are of FSU origin.

Mark, those link don't work. :(
AJ, another awesome picture of you better half! ;) With all these costumes and poses, it all makes me think what 'games' you guys play in private and what 'costumes' she likes to ware then! :o ;) :D I am sure you have tickled everybody's imagination here....
-
Si Mark :) A coworker of mine, who Ballroom Dances, insists that the Russian and Ukrainian Woman who dance at the Club he goes to are the Best, most Experienced, most Professional and the most Beautiful :) Proof in the photo of your wife :0
My Lana insists that she has Latin blood within her. Whenever she hears the Ramba, Samba, Mambo, Salsa, etc... her blood begins to boil. Funny thing is she's Cossack :-D
-
Mark, those link don't work. :(
Hi Anastassia..!
If I'm the Mark to are referring to, please tell me which links don't work.... I just tried 'em all and they did for me .....

Ok Anastassia,
I checked out flickr - as if I was a non-member and I see your problem..
If you can be bothered... Please try this link

WHAT is it indeed, with this Latin dancing ;) ?!!
Oh, and I dream of the day when Veta and you could be so picky with my Russian - I've waited a long time to catch you out ;) !!
-
Mark the link, and photos, work fine here anyway.
Beautiful photos and "mrs"!
i can't imagine what would pull you back to UK, from Cyprus..
Cyprus looks amazing and great weather year round?
(Thats not a knock on the UK,, in fact i was supposed to be in UK this weekend,,but plans unfortunantly changed ,and i'm very bummed about it..)

Thanks, AJ
If you want 340 days of Sun a year, low crime, lot's of Russian speakers, and a healthy relaxed life-style - Cyprus is a good place to live... but Veta's son is now of "college" age and the options for full time tertiary IT education, in English, in Cyprus are FAR more limiting than the UK - I can operate from anywhere with a good internet connection and I have to be careful with constant exposure to high levels of sun !!
Cyprus mid November to mid Feb can be VERY depressing - no tourists, attractions closed - often VERY windy - houses are poorly insulated.
We've been here three weeks and it hasn't rained for two of them - and in Cyprus it has only rained once in six months - two days ago - and they have a CRONIC water shortage !! In this case the Grass *IS* greener... ;)
Yesterday we went to my former village "country fair" ( some photos from 2006 http://www.framptoncountryfair.co.uk/pages/gallery_2006.htm ) - and although the soft ground meant no Helicopter rides or quad biking - all the other events were still there..
Veta and her son got to handle Owls, Otters, Alpacos ( like a Llama ), and see some great artists, carvers, sculptures, and live bands, and Veta even discovered the not all English home made Cider is akin to urine :)))))
Soon, we may wish the warmth of the sun.. but not.. YET... !
-
... did you ask your dog for permission to post her photo?
You can put lipstick on a dog and it is still a dog.
[Sorry, couldn't help it]
-
tfcrew-
i really have no idea what you mean..or how to take the
comment.
but the message you "quoted" was from billyB to me originally regarding my avatar.
( I had my dog, in my avatar back then)
so out of that context, (which with my avatar long changed ,noone can know the original statements you quoteds intent)
yours seems a very very strange comment.
-
The 'lipstick' remark-
I thought everybody had heard about that one...
http://www.slate.com/id/2199805/
or...
Houston Chronicle White House correspondent Julie Mason criticized the media for its reporting of what Kurtz called "this ridiculous, trumped-up, phony lipstick controversy" over Sen. Barack Obama's comment that "[y]ou can put lipstick on a pig; it's still a pig"

well, i know the meaning of the slang well enough.
Knowing its meaning, doesn't clear up (for me) what you meant by posting it in regards to a very dated two year old statement ,
about a photo of my dog long removed..
(that odds are you did not see , since the quote was from june 10 2006)
perhaps i'm just easily confused.
i can put lipstick on my dog,(since there is no photo noone knows i have a dog..)
but its still a dog..
got it, i suppose

How do I add a picture ?
I assume to a post. When posting, click + Additional Options... at bottom left. It'll open Attach: and its Choose option to locate the image file you want to attach on your PC disk. Repeat if you wish to attach more than 1 picture. After that, proceed as usual ;).

It was an idea coming from the godfather of my wife's son. My wife, her family, many of her friends are coming from Zaporozhye, which is the birth land of Cossack. So they decided that if I want to marry a woman from this place, It was necessary for me to be initiated as Cossack too ! It was really funny and good time, done in good spirit.

This is a candid photo that was taken without us being aware of it. When I saw it for the first time it told me everything I needed to know
You are a lucky man/ I can see it too, she loves you. I don't think I am so lucky but I haven't married mine yet. Crying shame for her and me and I am very happy for you. Brian

Thanks for reminding me of this thread, Simoni, by your posting, which is exquisite.
I'm in your town at present, visiting my extended (Russian) family, so, photos to come, when I've 'processed' the best back home!

That is a great photo and she is adorable. Life can be great sometimes and it looks like yours is doing well. Enjoy every minute. You will be surprised how quickly you will be looking at her high school graduation photo.

Simoni,
;) Yes, a princess would like Jack Sparrow. She reminds me of her beautiful mama. Time flies as I remember when....

Thanks for the kind words, Turbo--we do treasure each day.
And Gator--you are exactly right about her mama's influence :-)

"This was such a popular thread from the olden days. "
moy dva kopec
that was before the losers on the board got angry with the winners
my suggestion would be to keep a separate topic only accessible by others who have FSU spouses and children
otherwise ALL the guys who've made multiple trips and have nothing to show for it
will be VERY unhappy to see your photos
for reasons that would be obvious to us
but not to them
