Total 50m Pounds scammed in 2018? That's all? Not much data there. There was one scammer and her husband in Russia arrested that scammed men $150m. There are a lot more scammers than them targeting men. Men are the majority that get scammed but too embarrassed to report they got scammed by somebody half their age.

What is obfuscated is that this info is not relevant to the men and women involved here: i.e. WM and FSUW.
Very, very few FSUW have enough money to make it worthwhile to try to run a financial scam on them.
The worst most FSUW can worry about is being scammed out of their panties.
