The "too fat" comment was really just to bring her down a notch. She was fired for demanding too much money.

As for the accusation the Bolshoi is a brothel, it was always that way. Plisetskaya, who had more talent in her little finger than Volchkova will ever have, was de facto banned from the Bolshoi for refusing to sleep with a party official. She was married, which meant she could still survive on her husband's salary. In those years, she was also given permission to dance a couple times a year. Those performances always had scalpers selling tickets for hundreds of rubles.
