Need Visa Info Please

I have some friends that had a high school age Russian girl in their  home for a year on a special program (school related )  She  returned back to her home in the FSU about a year ago and has graduated  from high school over there. and is now attending college.
The family that sponsored her, while she was here on the program,  stayed in touch with her when she returned home, and wants to bring her  back over for a 2 week visit next summer.
The say they'll pay all of her expenses , and I'm sure she'll be well taken care of...
Any suggestions on what I can tell my friends  about how to go about this and a timeline on it.?
Your help would be greatly appreciated,

I can't tell where you are from or which country you are talking about the girl visiting. Is it the United States?

HI, and thank you for your response. I'm fom the US and I apologize for  not giving that info. The young girl would be visiting the US for the  FSU.

Can you wait two weeks?  I have some friends who did that with a young man from Kazhakstan who was in high school, and I will be seeing them in 2 weeks.

Thanks for your responce al-c...I'm sure this would be no problem with my friends.
They just wanted to get a headstart on things if there was a long timeline.
They really care about this girl and have given her a lot of support since she returned home to the FSU.
She has both parents together in the FSU...I think Olga and my friends  just consider each other extended family members and they want to see  her succeed as she moves into her adulthood.

Hopefully al will have some definate answers for you.   I think it is likely that she would need a tourist visa.   She would have been on a student visa before which is fairly easy to get.   The tourist visa might be harder but under the circumstatances she will have a good chance.
