On a Lighter note... hotels and 'gifts' ?!?
« on: August 20, 2009, 06:40:32 AM »
Okay, getting ready to leave our hotel in Montreal to head to Quebec City.....
I think Svetlana's suitcase is twice as heavy as it was when we arrived yesterday. If the plasma TV wasn't bolted to the wall in our room it would be in her suitcase as well! Making the argument she's taking these 'gifts' for my empty house...  :P :-*

Montreal is the city I always wanted to visit and even though I lived in Canada for a year, I never got a chance to go there.  So right now it is on my list of cities to explore.  What does Svetlana think about it?  What was her impression of the city?

Montreal was great! I was actually born and raised there Fashonista..... and Sveta was quite taken by the Fashion. Yes we did go to the Au Pied de Cochon Benoit :) They never got our reservation, so we didn't get a seating until 10pm. It was worth the wait though! Fois de Gras with maple syrup for me and fois de Gras smothered with Poutine for Svetlana :)

I never heard about this place, we are so going there next weekend! Is it really difficult to get a table?

Yes, le pied de cochon is really a perfect place for the gourmand... To get a table try one day in the week, during week end this is hell !
If you need more interesting restaurant, you can ask me, one year we decided with a friend to do our own guide of international cuisine in Montreal. We did a world tour.

But I prefer to cook ....Next time Sveta and dave,  I will do my rosbeef of Fois Gras : Two magret of duck with one fois gras inside ... cooked in oven with a sauce with honey and rawsberry...or salmon with fois grand and port wine sauce ...  :P

Sounds wonderful Benoit! We had a reservation at La Panache in Quebec City tonight, however we both ate some bad mussels for lunch at a street cafe and Sveta is now in bed suffering :(
