I haven't heard the name 'Robin Trower' in ..... FOREVER. He was one of my favorites way back when. Another (lesser known) artist I liked a LOT about that same time was Shawn Phillips - if anyone remembers him.

Yeah Phillips' Moonshine still rocks whenever I hear it but the guy I grew up listening to and inspired me to pick up a 6-stringer is none other than Sweet Baby JT. Even my wife actually like him. Well, a little bit...

This is probably more due to culture than age. 

All RW know Hotel California.  I recall in 2002 walking past the music clubs in Yalta and hearing three different bands playing Hotel California, all in the space of 10-15 minutes.  It was Groundhog Day or Twilight Zone (that latter term is one few young people recognize, the same with "broken record'). 

RW don't know the other Eagle songs.  In Thailand I purchased the Eagles CD (for $5, pirated of course) and said to my RW, "Tonight I introduce you to American music."  She maybe recognized only two songs.   Then Joe Walsh came on.  I thought she would throw up.  Such a persona is not Russian, and definitely if I had backstage tickets to meet Joe, she would be a "can't wait to get outta there...."

It happened, not exactly as you described, yet happened.  She was 30 at the time so I think the bouncer at this club in Dallas just wanted to flirt.  

It is one thing that a RW be much younger than a man, yet when they look younger than their age it really accentuates the difference.  

We traveled a lot, frequently taking the kids.  At a Club Med I picked up the kids at the end of their day camp and walked to the bar to meet Mama.  A few single men had gathered around her and were going through their moves.  A long distance away the kids spot her and run to the bar yelling "Mama."  

The men asked, "What is this?  You got kids?  These kids are too old to be yours."  The look of startled disappointment on their faces can not be captured in words.

When staying at a nice hotel the young bellboy and young poolside waiter wink at you behind her back and give you the 'thumbs up' sign.  Everytime you see them they have big smiles as if you are a celebrity....I guess that is more like a trophy wife and something that I could live without.

I agree. She liked the song very much, but the problem was it was the only song she did in a 3-hour long performance.

Before that concert, I took her to see Kansas because one of her other all-time US fav was Dust in the Wind. She was completely blown away because she actually loved their entire performance/music (I now believed it may have more to do with the fact Kansas have a heavy violin accompaniment in their music). She told me then how much it would've been great to be able to go backstage and have our pics taken with the band.

So when the Eagles came rolling into town, I pulled a few strings to get the priviledge and well, the rest is history...
