UK Settlement Visa

My wife and I got married on the 5th of June 2009 in Kharkov. On the 30th of June, she attended the Uk visa centre in Kiev to submit her application form and supporting documents for a 2 year Leave to Enter Settlement Visa.

I would like to ask anyone else who has been through this process how long it took them to decide on your case?

Today is July 12th, which means so far 8 working days have passed. Not a lot I know, but the waiting is awful.

From looking at the Border Agencies website for May 2009, I can see it says they decided within 5 working days 47% of Settlement applications. Within 10 days it was 71% and within 15 days it was 88%. As such we are both praying that it should not take too long as I think we have a fairly straight-forward case.

Is there anyone else out there who was been through this process and can confirm this is so?

About 2 weeks, in Kyiv, for a fiancee visa, in October 2007.

Well it's now been over 3 weeks (17 working days to be precise!) and we have still not heard anything. Email them and you get back a standard response saying "it can take up to 12 weeks". Great

For what it's worth, my wife has now been issued with her visa. It took 7 weeks from the day of application... 3 days until she arrives in England... am so happy that this long, long, long process is nearly over  Good luck everyone

I'd like to talk to you about your experience as I might be in a similar situation soon. I am in the UK now, having got back from a week in Kharkov recently.  Did your wife get any other kind of Visa to the UK prior to your wedding in Kharkov?
