Supposing you will be having your GF with you, you better ask which areas to avoid.  :D

Oops  :P

I have not yet visited either place, so have to do it with what I know to be the tourist traps.

The Reichtag in Berling, the remains of the Wall.
Reeperbahn is the most famous red-light district of Germany, you probably could speak Russian or Ukrainian there....

Prague has a historical centre, and the bridges are famous.

Prague is a gorgeous and romantic city, you guys will have a great time. If possible, try to stay near Old Town. The astronomical clock and Charles Bridge are must-sees, if you like architecture there are lots of beautiful old gothic buildings as well as Frank Gehry's "Fred & Ginger" building that will make you feel like you're on LSD the first time you see it :D. There are also tons of great basement restaurants and beer halls, good deals on crystal, etc. Just watch for drunken groups of tourists on weekends.

Thanks Shadow,
We will definetly be checking out the wall. I heard that there is a little museum at "check point charlie". We have a couple of concerts lined up as well. Looking forward to some good food.

All kind of good things to see in Prague.

Great place to visit but dunno how the weather is now..

Just get on the subway and head down to the center of town and wander around.

Take a boat ride on the river.

At 12 noon, go see the Prague astronomical clock.

Nice zoo also.

Good beer, good eats all over and put on your blinders.. the women are mighty fine in that neck of the woods.

BTW we stayed at Andel's hotel.

Pretty convenient, near the subway and is located in the busy Andel shopping/eating area.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274707-d277204-Reviews-Andel_s_Hotel_Prague-Prague_Bohemia.html

Rates were pretty good too for EU land.  Around 80 to 90 EUR /night with a three day or more stay, this was back in May.

Have a great time!

The most nice places in Prague (in my point of view, of course :)) are their zoo and gardens near Malostranskaya metro station :)

I was in Prague twice almost a decade ago. Each time for only about a week - sadly. The last time was when we took the train all the way down to Hungary through Bratislava, Banska Bystrica, Poprad and ultimately Budapest.

Prague is by far my most favorite city in the world. It is incredibly beautiful! I was basically accosted and dragged around by friends of mine who were generous enough to take me here and there but they were also more interested in doing indoor actvities than sightseeing, thus I was never 'out' long enough to memorize a lot the names and how to get to any of them. My visits were of different nature which was fine by me  :P

One of my favorite place was Wenceslas Square. If you can somehow manage to get in a building on the higher floors at night, it is majestic to look down the square with all it's lights and glory. Others are the astronomical clock with a skeleton located in the old town hall. The Charles bridge and also the Prague Castle. If you can get there when they change guards will be a good show to see

I love Pilsner too. You gotta have Pilsner. One of the best beer I ever had along with Slovakia's Zlaty Bazaant.

For a good resource of these and other places in the word, visit VirtualTourist. A lot of helpful information and native folks in there that would be willing to help you out. It is also an amazing source of travelling information to anywhere in the world. Just type in 'Prague' in the search column, then Bwalla!

I miss CR and Slovakia a lot.

Depends on what you are interested in.

There is something for everyone.

Perhaps take a bus trip on day one and during that you can pick out the places you need to visit in detail.

One peculiar thing I noticed in Berlin metro is that there are just no barriers. People just walk in and out. Not sure how this works.

Have fun
