Now if they have difficulties agreeing amongst themselves in how they should be perceived, defined, understood, etc...how on earth do the rest of 'us' succeed in doing so?

Now I'm thinking that regardless how remote - the Jordanian person in the subject may well be in fact an Armenian and likely is a Greek Orthodox. Assuming of course he's for real....I supposed that depends on who's behind it all: Yuri, Boris, Sergei or Ahman.

GQ you just hit the nail on the head.  What defines an Arab is just as complex as what defines an Asian or a European for that matter or a Latin.  Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Phil, Khmer, Malay, etc are all "Asians" and there are cultural similitude's but they are also very distinct from each other.  Europeans speak how many different languages and have how many diverse cultural idiosyncrasies?  Latin people from "Latin America" are far from homogeneous.  Why should "Arabs" be any different? 

That is why the comment that started the debate represents a form of bigotry.  Basing such a harsh judgement of an entire culture on news reports etc is bound to lead to false assumptions.  And, put propaganda into context of how Arabs are generally portrayed in the western media and the foundations of bigotry and misunderstanding are instilled into the psyche of a culture at large.  Its really very dangerous.

Good for you Johnny2009!  Political Correctness is repression of free speech and thought.  If they want to feel enlightened and educated and call anyone else who simply acknowledges the situation for what it is ignorant and racist then they are free to feel that way, but have no right to tell you to apologize, to change your statement or anything of the sort.  I wonder why such egalitarian "progressives" are interested in those Russian women who are known to be "racist" and all that!  Seems like hypocrisy to me.  Just like black men want to have sex with white women but still hate whitey.  And we're not supposed to be offended by this... or rather we ARE but are supposed to just suck it up and shut our mouths like the impotent, castrated, wretches that we've been reduced to in the West.
