Green card returned to USCIS
« on: January 06, 2010, 06:17:32 AM »
Hi folks---we have a little delima here.

Nata received notice in early December that her 2nd Green Card was approved (without interview). Yesterday, when she got home she had received an email stating " card was returned as undeliverable".  :wallbash:
We had moved back in September, filed Ar-11 online & paper copy; so the notices had been coming to new address.

I called and tried to talk to a human yesterday, without success.
Did a quick search on Visa Journey; and found a few instances of the same problem. Posters there reported doing everything from just waiting for 45 days for USCIS to re-send docs; making Infopass appointment to handle in person; or immediately filing an I-90 for a lost card replacement.

Anybody here ever have this problem---and what did you do?

10 yr card delivered on Monday. :whew:

What we did:
Refiled AR-11 on line and sent in printed copy as soon as we got that "returned" email
Refiled sponsor change of address. Both paper copies sent certified mail to the proper offices.

We kept trying to call service center hotline, but I was working late through most of January---they close at 6 PM; and the petitioner has to be available to talk to USCIS. I finally got a break, and got a nice lady on the phone---took about 25 minutes getting a service request entered into the system. The service rep said the correct address was in the USCIS computer. :wallbash:

Over on the women's forums; a lawyer had posted his suggested method:
Send copies of AR-11; all NOAs received, & copy of "returned" email via certified mail to VSC and local office.

We are not sure which method worked, or if it was a combination---but Nata is happy now. She can visit her family this year, and we don't have to worry with anything until she applies for naturalization.

Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
