Best crash course for Russian language
« on: February 06, 2010, 07:35:23 PM »
What is the best way to learn Russian quickly? Besides moving over and immersing yourself of course.
I have a copy of Rosetta Stone (boring as hell..) and have a couple friends to help, but they cannot spend a lot of time with me due to their personal lives.
A member mentioned it is best for both sides to learn each others language in another thread and I have to agree.

Try self-immersion, alex. Acting on desire is half the battle.

There is a link at the upper right entitled RWDpedia (like a Wiki site), check it out. At the right side
you'll find Reference Materials. A member here named Mendeleyev long ago posted a bevy of sites
to help the student, under the heading Learn Russian
You might also check this post he made nearly a year ago:

The best way to learn Russian quickly is to lock you in a basement and give food only when you can make decent sentences. An overseer with a lash would be a good bonus 8)
It's your problem if you take my posts too seriously.

The best way I found is to study "The New Penguin Russian course." I did a chapter a week. I studied the first 10 chapters and then learned more when I traveled.

Why the need for Russian?

If Rosseta Stone seems boring...and at what.. $650 for the whole course?

~Think about the intelligence of the average person and then realize that half of the people are even more stupid than that~
