Thanks! How do you determine whether a company has been valued less than it deserves to be?

Lily, when the crisis hit I started buying Ford stock at less than $2 a share. It is now at $12. There are many stocks that are still undervalued and a good bargain with long term growth potential. You need to open an account and start investing whatever amount you can afford to without stretching yourself. The important thing is to start now and give your investments time to grow.
Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else :)

Congrats JR, good deal!  8)

What information have you had about Ford that made you make a decision to invest in it?
Why not Chrysler, for instance?

Making money in the market was easier 20 years ago than now if you were a longterm investor.  Day trading has made it hard for longterm investors.

Take this company for example - AXL  American Axle.  Stock has gone from 26 cents to over 10 dollars this year.  40 time return if you hit it right.  However you own the stock 5 years ago you still have lost money.  Timing and luck can be very important.

Lily,

Grace Croner obviously got into the market in a completely different era but with apparently with some good advice and/or research. My suggestion to you as one who had their ass handed to them in the last 24 months in the stock market is, take your investment capital to a Vegas roulette wheel. Bet it all on red or black. Hedge, bet as long as you feel good about it then walk away and invest that in gold. That is if you actually have any left. Much safer than Wall Street.

The market is too unstable and volatile for any short or long term gain and it doesn't appear to be improving in the near future. Make no mistake, there is money to be made but at extremely high risk.
