Marriage Document Preparations
« on: April 10, 2010, 01:17:20 PM »
Well Fella's, now that Iv'e got the other issue semi straightened out, I'm on to the next step, and thats preparing for the marriage. I've came accross two resources thus far. http://www.mfa.gov.md/marriages-in-rm/-  This one explains what needs to be presented.  http://www.allmoldova.com/en/moldova-news/1249046590.html  And this one is a news press release dated 3/5/10. I'm not sure how often they update the first link, so now I'm trying to figure out if these documents need to be legalized here before I go, and what I can do here to speed the process up there. These two links are very short reads, and I would greatly appreciate someone elses view on these sites to gain a better understanding.

Charles,
I doubt if many here got married in Moldova but ....

For Czech I needed to have both birth certificates Apostiled, mine in USA, that requires new cert within 3 months of wedding.
Divorce papers translated.
The above were sent 30 days prior to wedding.
Then ...
A declaration from the the US Embassy in Prague of no impediment. Check if you need an online appointment and lead times, where available etc. The USA does not certify you are not married, you declare and swear it at the US Embassy.

Registration by hotel with the local police station stating arrival date, departure date, Passport Numbers, address etc.  Get hard copy don't trust online registration.
Then various papers to sign at registry office several days prior to the wedding, inc if she will take your surname a declaration of that intention and that it will be exactly your name with no local extension.

Get 5 copies of Marriage Certificate, some offices may keep copy.
After the marriage be prepared to get her domestic passport changed to your name, then her international passport after that and then the Visa in the passport...

Congratulations

We did a DCF in Kazakhstan.  If you are contemplating this as well, check this out.

You'll probably need to do a k3.  YMMV,but, others going this route have had problems.  Some on k1 have also had problems ,so it could  be a crap shoot no matter how you go about it.
