Understanding this new culture
« on: April 19, 2010, 04:55:12 PM »
Hi all,

I've been reading through a number of posts here, and they are fascinating!

I'm a graduate student of philosophy, currently in a feminist theory class, and we've been discussing Drucilla Cornell and Judith Butler, two giants in feminist theory. They each have interesting positions on something called the imaginary domain, that place in the imagination where one defines oneself, and I've become interested in RW and how they are represented in both pictures and words on introduction agency websites.

Is anyone here interested in having a conversation with me concerning how a woman sets up an account with such an agency, chooses a picture, and writes a description? Or any other aspect of the process?

Thanks!

May today be the worst day of the rest of your life!

Welcome to the RWD!

So basically if I got you correctly, you are curious how we compose our dating profiles?

If yes, then it is a thorough selection of words, pictures, and videos, that may take a number of shots and a few wording options.

I think he means what are your hopes and dreams in setting up a profile?  What are you looking for, how do you choose your words for your "target audience", and whether this plays a role in choosing your picture and words.

& it's the 4th  such thread started..

Rich...
I would suggest that you utilize the search option located at the top of the page and just glean from the forum history for whatever it is you are looking.

I'm a graduate student of philosophy, currently in a feminist theory class

It might help to take a methods class along with the theory  ;) You start a post, and then do not return to it, do not answer questions, and otherwise disappear. Not necessarily the most effective way of getting people to engage with you  :-X

Are you contacting women on other sites? Logically, this is the type of question that you would want to ask women who are on agency websites. Have you even defined what you mean by an agency website?

Also, how is your Russian? Asking people about their imaginary domains would be confusing enough in their native language, let alone a second language  ;)
