Does anyone have recent experience getting married in Ukraine?  What were the documents required and procedures?

You will need

Copy of passport
Copy of birth certificate
Copy of divorce certificate if previously married
Copy of permission to marry, in UK we are supposed to register with registrars office when getting married abroad, they issue a certificate that you will need in Ukraine
Copy of proof of address in your country

All these need to be translated and then taken to your nearest Ukraine embassy to be certified as true translations. It is best to use a translator who is registered with the embassy for these type of translations.

When you plan to get married in Ukraine you are supposed to be resident for either three weeks or a month, you can state that it is an emergency pay the registrar a few dollars and get married within 4 days. There is a lot of running around to do.

Ok Wayne. From the other threads you started it appears you have met a Ukrianian woman you wish to marry and take on a honeynoon vacation in Egypt. Am I wrong about this?
I think thats good by the way if true. Care to tell us whats going on? If not I respect your privacy and wont ask again :)

Wayne, it is a very easy process you need to get all your divorces stamped with the apositle (spelling) in the USA.  I also had my passport certified as well.  If you have not told your future partner about the divorces you had (who and when) she will find out just before the ceremony in ZAGS in Ukraine.  There is a bunch of paperwork you future wife will need to do as well.  Some of it will need to be taken care of in Kiev.  I got married more than a year ago and forgot the details but this covers most of what needs to be done.

Wayne,

I just deleted all my reference to getting married in Russia. I got married in Russia in 2004 and I had to go to the US Embassy in Moscow and get some papers approved that had to  be subsequently approved by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Next, we had to get approval for marriage in my wife's city. It's a little bit of a process but you should be able to search for the answers on line. It's a little bit of a pain in the behind but that's what comes with this process.

Hi - all info seems the same as mine. We got married here last year. I had to get papers sent to and from UK , reference my divorce. Then have translated here. Paperwork went ok for both of us. Needed to do a couple of trips to British Embassy in Kiev as well.
Main pain for me was my Visa. I had been doing the 90 day in/out of the country, but now got 6 month visa via embassy in Poland. Get Visa sorted before you come here, its alot easier to do.
