Hello from a lifer
« on: July 20, 2010, 09:56:56 AM »
A few of you may remember my username from RUSSIAN-WOMEN-L, where I was very active for a few years between 1997 and 2001. I used to be a quite prolific poster there, and was even a moderator for a while, but I quickly learned that I had better uses for my time than arguing with a legion of generally intelligent but highly opinionated guys about stuff that didn't really mean much to me.

I'm happily married to a Ukrainian woman since 1998 and we have two children together.

The startup drama has long since passed and we're now just another American couple with an unusual "how we met" story. As such, my experience is probably a little obsolete to be of great value to anybody here. I do still maintain an interest in the world of AM-RW relationships; I suppose I'm a bit of a voyeur. As such, I'm here mostly just lurking keep abreast of current events. I'm happy to answer questions or offer my opinion if asked, but I won't be getting involved in any great debates. So, carry on and best of luck to all.

--- Kevin

Welcome, Kevin.

Don't sell yourself short, perspectives of guys in long-term marriages to UW or RW are in short supply.

Sweet! I don't remember you Kevin but, I wasn't on the boards in that time frame. Welcome back to the fray. I imagine you have volumes of solid advice for many in various stages. You might even pick up some advice from time to time as well.

Welcome!

As FP says, don't sell yourself short. For those more focused on staying married, your perspectives could well be invaluable. If you've been married to the same FSUW for 12 years your overall cred is pretty substantial and possibly among the highest on the board these days. The number of people with failure on their resume is substantial and I'm keenly interested in any insights you may offer for those of us working on strengthening and surviving our relationships.

Glad to have you amongst us.

Pick and choose carefully among the advice offered and consider the source carefully. PM, Skype or email if you care to chat or discuss
