De-Lurking for a moment to say hello
« on: July 10, 2010, 12:36:37 AM »
Hello RWD people!  My name is Dan, and I recently discovered this forum, in spite of starting on this quest last January.  I did find another board with good advice, though, where I learned the same lessons that I can see are also taught here.  I will be respectful and refer to it only as [another forum], as it appears that naming the competition is frowned upon.  I thought I'd share my experience here, as it is still developing.

My initial story seems to be somewhat similar to others I've read.  Last year, after having essentially given up on women for a very long time, I managed to get the self-confidence and desire to start dating again.  I used a popular local site, but while I didn't seem to have a problem getting first dates, but rarely got past that.  Then, right around the new year, I became acquainted with a woman who turned out to be from Kazakhstan, although she lives in LA now.  There was something about the way she wrote her e-mails, and the way she posed for her pictures, that was remarkably different from the latinas, filipinas, and Jewish girls who I had been meeting up to that point.  That particular contact didn't go far, but it got me interested in finding out more about women from the former Soviet Union.

After first stumbling into flashy (and expensive) sites like Anastasia and RWGlobe, I quickly grew suspicious about just how many women suddenly wanted to write me and learning it was five bucks or so for each and every message read or sent.  Before spending any money, I decided to do a bit more research than clicking on the "sponsor" listings, and found [another forum] and other sites that pretty much confirmed my suspicions.  I decided to make a profile on Elena's Models, which had a much more reasonable set-up, and after a few false starts, I came into contact with a girl from Kherson.

I thought she was cute, though not a traffic-stopping beauty you'll see on the banner ads, but something about the way she wrote her e-mails made her more attractive.  I decided to take the plunge, and in May I flew to Kiev and spent a weekend with her.  I posted in the travel reports at [another forum], and maybe I'll re-post it here.  Next week, I'll be seeing her again and spending two more weekends with her (and the week in between, of course).  To say the least, we've been getting along very well, and I might have an even better story to tell when I return.

I've read many other threads about people's experiences and philosophies, and I have to admit that stories like TwoBitBandit's trip report represent a dramatically different approach than the one I've taken.  The idea of juggling so many women at once makes my brain melt.  I enjoyed the heck out of his story and have nothing but respect for him, but I lack the organizational skills and emotional detachment to pull that off.  It's all I can do to focus on one at a time.  The next couple of weeks will tell whether I'm truly on to something good, or a typical sucker with another sob story.

Welcome to the forum, Dahnlor.

There is no need to refrain from naming other boards.  Admin has already posted information on other websites.

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Welcome to RWD Dahnlor.  I look forward to hearing your stories.

We are one big dysfunctional family.  As long as you realize that, you will be fine here.  ;)

And I wish you luck!

Welcome to the board .  I'm glad you found my trip report interesting.

There's lots of ways to be successful at this.  I don't claim that visit-many is the right approach for everyone.

Visit one has just as many pitfalls.  Russian girls are feminine but they can eat you alive if they sense weakness.  They don't respect weak guys.

Dan, don't end up like the other Dan in this youtube video in your quest for Russian girls:

Nice start to this very crazy adventure Dan.

You did well spotting the scams right up from which tells me you are realistic and likely to be well prepare for what is ahead.

This is a really difficult process to go through and you've done well to get where you are.  Actually,  you've gotten further than most men who dream about this because you got on a plane and met a girl.  Congrats.

I'll be very interested to see how you go and wuld encourage you to keep posting.

If you ever need help there's lots of good men here with valuable advice.

Kuna

Thanks everybody for your kind comments.

Ah, I hadn't noticed that.  I've read other posts that seemed to be vague about other forums, so I thought it would be appropriate to emulate that.  Not to mention, it's kind of like how saying $#%&! is funnier than actual dirty words.

That was hilarious, thanks for sharing!  I also found your story helpful for general ideas of things to do and ways to look at things objectively.  I was only thinking "OMFG I could never handle that!" about half of the time.  :)

Thanks.  Early on I was beginning to be a little discouraged, and even with this girl I had thought I'd blown it multiple times, particularly after I failed to call her on her birthday. :cluebat: I couldn't believe it when I received another e-mail from her about a week later, telling me how sad she was that she hadn't heard from me, yet still wishing me a happy Easter.  When I caller her after that, I promised I would come to see her, and I never make promises that I don't intend to keep.

I decided not to re-post my first TR here quite yet; it'll make more sense to do that after I get back.  If anyone's curious, it's currently posted at RUA.  My plane takes off from Los Angeles tomorrow for my second visit, and I'll be seeing my special girl on Saturday.  I probably won't be able to post anything until after I'm back on the 27th, but we'll see.

Dan
