ST PETERSBURG HOTEL

Does anybody know of hotels in St. Petersburg they wish to recommend?  I am not looking for the fancy, 5 star variety, but I don't want a dive either.

My lady recommended The Andersen because it is reasonable in cost and close to her flat.

Has anybody been to The Andersen?  What about hotels close by that are reasonable in cost?

I have stayed at the Pribaltiyskaya a few times.  It is not very central but cabs are cheap.  It is very modern and delux for the $ 89.00 a night I am coming up with on the internet right now is a great price for a deluxe hotel.  I think I paid $ 110 when I stayed there. 

I stayed at a guest house right in the center and it was good and right in the center of Nevsky but hard to get into at night.  I can't remember the name for certain.  I went to my usual place to make reservations www.hotelsrussia.com and punched in a hypothetical March trip to see if something would jog my memory.  The nevsky 22 guest house sorta seemed like it might be it but I was getting a rate of $ 142 a night and I paid about $ 70.  It was noisy when I was there but the white nights were going on and it was one big party out on the streets.

If you want to stay at a really nice apartment (really nice studio with all modern facilities) but no room service, email Ludmila at spring@mailbox.alkor.ru. She is a wonderful women who set me up at one of the apartments she rents for $80 a night.

It was located in a nice section of downtown St. Pete. She can show you some photos if you like.
Tom Hanks in Castaway: You never know what the tide may bring in.
Viking: But you still need to walk along the beach to find it.
