N-400 or N-600

Hello All,

My wife (Ukraine) is taking her naturalization oath the 13th of October - FINALLY !!!

She has a 16 year old daughter (my step-daughter) - do we need to file the N-400 or the N-600?

And is it absolutely necessary for her (my step-daughter) to have this certificate - she will have her US passport?

If she has a U.S. Passport, that is proof of citizenship.  Unless she just wants a certificate because it looks good, then why get it?

I don't think a Naturalized Certificate is needed by anyone.

The Natrlzd Ctznshp document does look neat, but if someone is already documented thru a US passport, I doubt if they would even want to process it. Also, you're lookin at about what? $700?

Speaking as a naturalized citizen of this great nation of ours (at least until the 2008 election) ( ), the US passport is ample enough to identify you as a citizen. However, there has been occassions in the past where I was asked to provide a certified copy of my naturalization papers...filing my k-1 papers for my wife was one of them. 

The ol' adage...'better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it'...is a good rule of thumb.
