I still would be in serious trouble if this was true. It all depends on a person, you can't make such a broad generalisation IMO...well you can off course, but doesn't mean it's the truth.
You're missing the point. It's about the initial stages of settling her in, perhaps 12 months or so. Survival not fidelity. BTW, you aren't in a foreign marriage therefore, with all due respect, your reference points are third party.

If something like that is going to destroy the marriage then there wasn't anything there worth saving anyway.
Turbo, to an extent I agree but again, I think you also missed the point. It's about being around and availalbe in those early stages and for reference I'll point out the poster child PG ..................................

The poster child PG?

Thanks for the debate.  Interesting and valid points to think about, but rather than trying to prove any great truths, I'm just pondering how it all relates to ME.  Yup, its all about me. :P

Summary of good points so far:
1.  Learn some Russian; don't be ignorant of the customs and culture.
2.  Adjustment is tough for a while.
3.  A marriage that cannot weather some storms isn't worth having.

All good points, none of them mutually exclusive.

As a token of my thanks, here is a cheesy joke:
