Wow, stupid, OK. Won't bother with you, for sure. Try telling that to an immigration officer. Yep, had to do that in Ukraine a few times.

Are we talking about the same thing? A K-1 Visa ? This is a one time deal. "A few times in the Ukraine" tells me we are speaking about different things.

I visited Ukraine first about 15 years ago, as well as more recently. Women from there have visited me here in the US. I've also visited numerous countries around the world in my 51 on this rock. I've spoken to a lot of immigration officers at ports of entry. I tend to follow and suggest visitors follow guidelines set out by the individual countries immigration services. I've never told an immigration officer that those policies were 'stupid'. I suggest that you try doing that on your next trip to a foreign country and see how it goes for you. I've watched people argue with immigration officers and agents at airports. They rarely win. Me, I smile, nod politely, produce the required documents that they say they want and move on.

If I were bringing in a CIS fiance on a K1, I'd follow INS statute to the letter. If it explicitly stated that prepaid return travel was not required, then her award ticket would be a one-way. If ambiguous, err on the side of being 'careful'. When I did do the detailed research a decade ago in preparations, it matched up with what visajourney.com *currently* lists as recommended/required procedures/documents today. Statute and the immigration/consular officer control. The OP is getting conflicting information so more due diligence is necessary, IMO.

I have used VJ more times than I can remember and am a poster there as well. They have enormous amounts of info on how to prepare documents for K-1's, AOS and other issues. But where, please tell me, does it mention anything about tickets. Immigration implies entry into a country.Any foreign person with a valid passport and a plane ticket can hop on a plane to the US. But without a valid visa cannot enter. The immigration people here don't care how you arrived.Only that you have done so legally. I have given the OP valid info about tickets. There is no "due diligence" about tickets. Buy what you want. The due diligence is on the paperwork, and once the visa is issued, your done until after marriage.

You got one piece of odd info from your lawyer, it's not really that big a deal. From the feedback you have gotten, it seems clear that it is probably not going to have an impact on things. You need to be focusing on her being here and making the relationship work rather than getting a few hundred back on a ticket.

Pick and choose carefully among the advice offered and consider the source carefully. PM, Skype or email if you care to chat or discuss

A K-1 Visa ? This is a one time deal

If the fiancee returns home within the 90 days, she may apply again.
However [correct me if this is wrong] the  129 petition must be filed again.

A guy here can only file two K-1's. There is a period of two years in between filing and he can do it again for the same woman and the same woman can also find another guy to file for her. But, yes, the whole process must be repeated. When I said a one time deal, I was thinking along the lines that a man will file for a woman, and if it does not work out, very rarely will he resubmit another application for the same woman. There are waivers one can apply for but who would want to go through this 3 times? (BTW...refiling some time later for the same woman becomes more difficult since the embassy will want to know why it did not work out the first time, what changed, and how serious is this second application).

You are correct tf.  It is just like starting over and you need to do everything again.  It is probably more common than you might think.

Actually I did that with my first fiancee and filed everything again 3 weeks after she returned to Russia.  She was writing me hot and heavy and telling me she had made the biggest mistake of her life and that her keyboard was covered in tears so I sent off another K-1 packet.  Two weeks later I found she was making plans to make a two week visit with a man in Germany and I withdrew the application.  In researching a second application I found it was not that uncommon to reapply for the same fiancee.
