Hello from North Carolina
« on: December 28, 2010, 09:41:22 PM »
Hello,

I am John from North Carolina and found this site surfing around google
and I am surprised I have never seen this site before. Lots of good information in the forum
so I decided to join. I traveled to Russia 2006 January and February I rented a flat in Saint Petersburg and stayed for 30 days it was a experience for me not knowing any Russian at all and never been in a big city and the weather was so cold that year. However I did mange to get accustom to life there after my luggage arrived a few days late with my coat and clothes.
I went there to visit a girl I had been chatting with for over a year online she was a nice person but we had a very hard time getting along with each other her English was good and she was intelligent we just got along like a cat and a dog. So I got back online at the internet cafe and found some other women to go out with and I had a great time.
One I really liked and spent lots of time with was Elena she had been to the usa before on a k1 visa and the guy treated her like crap and hurt her real bad so she was afraid of getting involved with somebody so soon. I talked with Elena for a while after that and our relationship dwindled after a while with the distance between us.
Since then I started a dating site after going to the main office in Saint Petersburg and meeting the people running it.
I had a great time in Russia and I want to travel back there fairly soon
hope I can meet some new friends here and talk about different things.

Have a great day
John V :D

Over to the left of your screen you should see a "Terms of Service" with a subsection "Rules of conduct" That hopefully will answer most of your questions.

Not sure if you are talking about the sig line at bottom of a post or forum rules?
The sig line is changed by selecting Personal CP at left in the Personal News section
where you put your pic.  Then Modify Profile / Forum Profile Information

There seems to be a bug in the system there as my Status keeps getting reset to
"Looking 0-2 years" from Married.   Or maybe its just trying to tell me something.
Right now I cannot change it back.  Keeps going to Looking 0-2 years.

Welcome John, I agree with you about Saint Petersburg, its a beautiful city, had the pleasure of welcoming in the New Year of 2004, but if you do plan on a return visit late June is a perfect time ,its called the White Nights because of the long hours of daylight.

Dave

But in January and February we had white nights and white days it never stopped snowing. I have never seen it so cold in my life some nights it was so cold your eyes would water non stop to keep from freezing in your head! The girls still wore mini skirts with fur panties I bet!! Yes longer sunlight in the summer the days in the winter were so short 9:30 am to about 4 pm was the only light hours but the company and the people were awesome I felt right at home where ever I was people always wanting to talk and help me out was great. I was in the flat I rented one day and all the little old ladies from the building come with cake and candy and photo's of the daughters.....I was part of the family after that!

Let me also welcome you to RWD, John. My wife and I live in Charlotte - where are you?

Enjoyed reading of your experience in St Petersburg - I hope to get there next trip, or at
worst, the one after that.

Thank You, I am about 20 minutes from Raleigh.... Smithfield

I did not know anything about Russia before I got there so everything was new to me everything was a new experience..after being there 30 days people were speaking Russian and my brain was translating some things into English I had to keep asking Elena if people were speaking Russia. I saw lots of business opportunity's there and I enjoyed the freedom people have there but it is so cold and the economy was not the best. But what amazed me was the people there most had nothing but would go out of their way to help each other and perfect strangers. You just don't see that much anymore in the usa really sad.
