And I received notice over the weekend that a couple I had referred to LifeTime TV will be filmed for an upcoming program. More on that as I learn the details.

Sorry I missed that. Mark Davis from that clip is a member here and posts on occasion.

Well here we go again. There is at least one other thread on this topic and another relating to it active now. Who to believe? Is it dead or is it thriving or perhaps just changing faces. I'm kind of at the point of, who really cares besides those with the vested interest? Your guy on the street doesn't know the difference. All he will care about is what's available when he comes looking. Those guys who have been looking for a long time (years) have you noticed a difference for the worse? Is the "supply drying up" as proclaimed by andrewfi?

I have to say, from where I sit and I am not looking, I don't see the supply drying up. If anything "I" notice, less men looking. Thats just my observation and personal opinion with no other data.

Like mentioned in the "death" thread, the business is changing with the times and opportunities of people.

The term "Mail Order Bride" was invented because there actually were mail order catalogues in the past. From this the pen-pal agencies developed.
Once the internet was an established tool, the MOB business went from letter writing to e-mail, as it was a faster correspondence. At the time the availability of high-speed internet in the FSU was not yet common, even in large cities.

Currently a very large part of the people in the FSU have access to the internet directly. Either by home internet connection or by mobile phone. As a result they are getting less dependent on agencies that they have to visit, and will more and more search for venues to communicate directly. The "generation me" is looming to start international dating, and they are not going to wait for a reply, they want it instantly.

The business will adapt to the new ways of communication.. Some wil be left behind, others will grow, as happened with past changes. The bottom line is that there will be interest from both men and women for international dating, and there will be provisions to let them meet.

No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

The clip referenced in the OP I thought was a positive to international relationships where there are still way too many stigmas and horror stories. A "hey look, we're not all freaks", if you will. I was reading some of Dan's informational reports on the other thread. Some of those are extremely and unfairly damming. One report was relating men in this venture to necrophiliacs.

Faux may be onto something...

Can't say I was really paying attention, but as an afterthought did not see any obvious bride seekers on the flights to/from RU during my holiday over New Year.  Stark contrast to flights a couple years ago.

Was a direct flight from EU not via SVO, but still to a fairly popular city.

Plenty of nice women in RU still, but do note that I am aging out quickly.  Most of the women that caught my eye were in their 20's.

When I was there, most of the women who caught my eye were in their 20s.  Made it kind of hard to focus on the woman I went there to see, but I somehow managed.

The two men on the Today show got brides in realistic age ranges to them, and I think that was part of their success.  If a man is gong there to focus on 20 something eye candy, he is in for a letdown when it is time to get serious, not all the time, but more often than not.
