Suggestions needed for Kiev lodging
« on: June 12, 2011, 04:19:21 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'll be going to Kyiv this weekend and I was wondering if you all had some suggestions on good, reputable apartment agencies.  From what I understand, apartment rental is the best way to go, since there many apartments but not many hotels, so you can usually spend less and get more.

I was told about http://www.kievapartmentsforrent.com/ and http://www.ukrainetour.com/ on a message board at Frommers.com, does anyone here tried any other lodging.  Has anyone here done the hotel thing?

Thanks,

I used Kiev Apartment Hotel Services - http://www.kievhotelservice.com/ - two great apartments, the second one across the street from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and where I could see the Mikhailivsky Cathedral from the bedroom.  The manager, Oleksandr, is a great guy who speaks perfect English - their driver, also Oleksandr (they call themselves Alex 1 and Alex 2  :D ) speaks enough English to tell you a little bit about the city as you head in from the airport.  The only drawback with them is that they won't do one-night rentals (fair enough) and may not have anything available at such short notice, but they're certainly worth contacting.  I will most definitely use them if I'm ever back in Kyiv.

I've been to Kiev at least a dozen times now and my recommendations are the Sherborne apartments -
http://www.sherbornehotel.com.ua/kiev-apartments.html - clean, modestly priced, great service, English speaking staff (24x7), airport transfer, good location, and all round good value for the money.
Last month I stayed at a great boutique hotel called City Park  - http://www.cityparkhotelkiev.com/.  I was absolutely satisfied with them.  Great service-oriented, fluent English staff, clean and modern rooms, wonderful breakfast included in the rate, and transportation arrangements available.  Pricier than an apartment, but for me the service and quality of the rooms was worth the extra few bucks.
