Old School Master Gunsmith . . . in Lviv
« on: July 11, 2011, 07:54:14 PM »

Not everyone will find this sort of photo interesting, but to see the workspace of an artist as displayed in the series of photos at this link -- http://picasaweb.google.com/igor.rulyov/NijaziBilyalovichIbragimov# -- is fascinating to me.

It has been a very long time since I visited Lviv, but I now have another stop to make the next time I am there.

Be sure to look at the final photo in the series - from the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Looks pretty chaotic, doesn't it?

Reminds me of some times I've spent in the workshops of various tradesmen. They all seemed to be at least somewhat disorganized - and yet, the tradesman knows where every part in every nook and cranny resides.

As I wrote initially, this sort of topic probably won't appeal to many - but for those of us who are reminded of the smells, the sounds, the clamor and buzz, the heat and humidity - and most important, the finished products.

Just a bit of nostalgia, I suppose - and appreciation for a master of his trade.
