What would you do if etc.
« on: August 14, 2011, 06:13:20 AM »
What would you do if you were married to your Russian wife for 10 years but, holds all the purse strings and being a Brit, why would you suffer in this way as I am retire and living on a Russian woman's wages in the eyes of Russian law even though, I get an annual personal pension from Glasgow i.e every October 1st despite all efforts, that she insists " we will spend this money together, and despite she has property i.e dacha she owns and some land along with an apartment she rents out every month she also gets a state pension and has a full time job as well her total wealth stands at 3,667,000,00 R/rubles and yet, I still get the occasional handouts i.e 100- 50 -10 rubles and yet I still have to ask her nicely, if she can buy me clothes i.e t-shirts, boxer shorts, and socks along with a new bicycle costs her 4000 R/rubles and an electronic Casio keyboard 3 years ago 13000.00 rubles.

Anyway, I am what you might call a quiet kind of guy, I hate confrontation so, I go along with her and I will NEVER GIVE UP NEVER SURRENDER don`t get me wrong she is o.k as far as ex-soviet women go or the Russian woman's way of thinking all in all I am getting frustrated as too why me as UK citizen should get treated with contempt so, my question is simply this, " if you were married to someone like her, what would you do if had no money to get the hell out of this CATCH 22 situation ???

Sounds like you then have nothing to loose.  If you want to 'get the hell out', what's holding you back?

BTW welcome to RWD!

3.6M Rubbles?  Did I slip a decimal place or two?  That's like $100K USD - not a lot really for total wealth.

Welcome Churchmouse!

This is a switch.  Usually the conflict is the other way around.

I get an annual personal pension from Glasgow i.e every October 1st despite all efforts, that she insists " we will spend this money together..."
So, describe how that money was spent "together"?   For a vacation or whatever, have you tried suggesting each of you pay 50%?  Is your pension enough to take care of your needs?

Suggest you use a counselor or friend as a go-between.   She will probably resist counseling, as she appears to be winning the power struggle right now.   It seems to be an unwritten rule in most of these relationships that his money is our money, and her money is her money.

Based on her age, a large proportion of the FSUM she has seen are drunkards.  The attitude of FSUW of that age is that men are all drunkards or potential drunkards, and if she doesn't control the money, you, as a family, will have nothing.  Do you like to drink to excess on occasion?  If you do, this would reinforce her perception.  It is also traditional for women to control the family budget (this is part of the family dynamic), though for you to have to beg to buy goods is unusual.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

I would open a checking account of my own and start to put money into it. Every escape needs a carefully made plan.

I don't understand how any of you could have given your answers/suggestions when I couldn't understand anything from his written English.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.
