All the names were released today [two page report]...

One of my cousins was an Army Captain... a Taliban Afghani  roadside device took him out in 2008.
So I know........
Those lost in the helicopter last week is a terrible jolt for very many.

My condolences tfcrew....
 
I, too, can proudly say I have 2 relatives (nephew & niece's hubby) serving in Afghanistan at this time.

I've seen a movie about Charlie Wilson, a Congressman from Texas.
His girlfriend asked him to send Stingers to the Mojahedin in Afghanistan.
It seems they still use this weapon to fight against helicopters.

tfcrew, you are correct to mention this.  Many were our best trained combatants, and evidently they were on a mission to help a unit on the ground receiving heavy fire from the Taliban.

You should read the book.  10x better than the film.  Charlie Wilson and the Greek spook working with him were true heroes.  Congress supported Carlie's war but not the postwar program to win the minds and hearts of the Afghani.
