Cats and Dogs. No it's not raining...
« on: March 15, 2012, 06:49:58 AM »
Why are some people enjoy dags and others enjoy cats??

I understand cats may be easier to own in cities than dogs, because dogs require more room.

But to me, cats have always seemed some what selfish.
It's like they think feed me and leave me alone.

Were as dogs crave human attention.
They will also step up if you or your children's life is in danger.
That is some thing cats will just not do.

Dogs can play fetch or Frisbee. Do tricks on command, Lots of cool things.
Even go and get that duck you just shoot for dinner.

Cats just sit their or they try to nest on your head when you sleep. ugh....
We need a government of action to fight for working families!

Dogs descend from wolves - group animals - and dog owners inherit the role of the alpha male leader of the pack. Their displays of affection are really acts of submission to what they perceive as their ruler.

On the other hand, most felines - except lions - live either alone or as couples, hence they are more self-reliant and independent.

OP is correct that, if you have the time and room, dogs make a lot more sense and are more enjoyable  for the humans.

However, it is  the fact of much less care that has popularized cats.  While not necessarily PC, you can leave a cat alone (with a big supply of food and water) at home for a  week or so.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

I inherited my mother's cat for 6 months, and it displayed a marked tendency to gorge itself whenever given extra food rations ::).

Probably because it had been born wild in the woods, and its mind would not get used to the idea of regularly available food :D.

You've given the explanaton yourself: dogs' lovers love someone for something they do, cat  people just love without asking for something in return. They don't need someone to entertain them and to look frendly all the time to love him and don't judge the book by its cover. There are exceptions of course.

This also explains why most men love dogs: they are very "visual",  men love to be  bosses and the head of the pack.  Most men want drama free women, don't like sharing grief or pain with someone, but want fun all the time while women make better supporters in "sickness".

Does love need a reason:
A story:

One day a gal asked:why do you like me..? why do you love me..?

HE answered: I can't tell the reason.. but I really like you..

SHE: You can't even tell me the reason. How can you say you like me?

HE: I really don't know the reason, but I can prove that I love you.

SHE: I don't want any proof. I want you to tell me the reason. My friend's boyfriend can tell her why he loves her but you can't!

HE: OK..OK!! ermmss..because you are beautiful, because your voice is sweet, because you are
caring, because you are loving, because you are thoughtful, because of your smile, because of your every movement.

The gal felt very satisfied with his answer.

Unfortunately, a few days later, the gal got an accident and became coma.

HE then placed a letter by her side, and here is the content:

Darling, Because of your sweet voice that I love you...Now can you talk? No, therefore I cannot
love you.Because of your care and concern that I like you..Now that you cannot show them, therefore i cannot love you.Because of your smile, because of your every movement that I love you.. Now can you smile? Now can you move? No, therefore I cannot love you...If love needs a reason, like now, there is no reason for me to love you anymore. Does love need a reason? NO!
Therefore, I still love you...

I like animals. Dogs are wonderful companion, I like their companionship as I do horses. But I do have an affinity for cats.

I don't denote any of these animals in forms of ownership but rather life's companion. To those who say cats cannot be 'trained' like you can with dogs, you obviously haven't had a cat or had taken the same time to understand them as you have your dog/s.

Cats' seeming alloofness is always perceived as though they would like to be left alone. They're independent. This may be true for feral cats, but never the domesticated variety. Like with dogs, you just need to make clear what your role is in your pride. They are as much respectful in their pride as dogs are in their pack. The bond is just as tight if not tighter.

Having had an incredible canine companion before, one which I will forever hold dear, I understand the feline psyche just as much as I do canine. One is not any better than the other, they're just different.

Besides, my cats have uncanny abilities and abundance of skills, just like me Jaguar Paw. They can easily do a 3 1/2 somersault with a 2.5 twist before breakfast. Try to see if your dog can do that.

Such men should not get a Jack Russell Terrier.  One does not train a Jack Russell; he trains you.    :)

Most men understand dogs but not cats.  Women are very similar to cats.  Both women and cats hiss at me regularly...

Gator, please strip away the "political correctness" !   :D

You meant that women are as adept at talking meaningfully with men as cats are when they fuss round your ankles as you prepare their food, didn't you?     ;D
If you want to keep your expressions convergent, never allow them a single degree of freedom.

I always wanted a Triceratops - those horns are just SO cool!  Shame that they died out in the Great Extinction of 65 million years ago.

R.I.P. Frisky, our fatcat ShihTzu mix, died a couple days ago.

Rescued from shelter in 2005.
