Second trip to see my fiance
« on: May 10, 2012, 12:12:07 PM »
Hello

Here with another trip report.  For those of you who read"from the beggining a trip to Siberia" this its the second trip I am making.

I am one of those who have written one, visited one, and nowwe are waiting for the k-1 process.  We tried to get b-2 visa so she could spend some time with me in the US while we wait for the k-1.  We were told by the embassy that we could apply for it, but they said no.

So we tried to liner up a nice vacation in Jamaica, but it was to difficult to get flights for her without going through a country requiring a via.

I found a country we could go to via free.  Montenegro.

I am now on my way to see her in Montenegro.  A very beautiful place to vacation.

We are going to spend 10 days together on Jaz beach and our flat its only 30 Erous a night total foot the both of us

So, to be clear, you made one trip over after writing for awhile, proposed and then started the K1? Now you are doing a 10-day vacation trip to Montenegro?

Looking forward to your developing story.

Best of Luck!

Wow, we had a great trip in Montenegro.

I must say it is one of the best places to go.  People are friendly, many speak english, great wine, olive oil, seafood, etc.

It is a small country with little to no crime and many things to do.

We stayed on Jaz Beach near Budva.  The place we stayed was a second story flat overlooking Jaz beach and it was 30 Euro a night for the flat.

I wish I could have been able to spend more time with her, but it was hard enough already to take off the time from work for 12 days.

It was so nice to see each other again and we are more in love with each other.  Montenegro is also a very romantic place.  The restaurants serve up very good food and Montenegro has one of the largest canyons in the world, the oldest untouched rain forest in Europe, crystal clear water in the lakes and coast of the Adriatic Sea.

The two of us had lots of time for relaxation, sun bathing, hiking, and romance.  We are still waiting for the K-1 to process out of California, the web sites says less than 5 months and it has been 4.5 so hopefully it will soon be done and on the way to Moscow.

I have lots of great pictures and will post some soon.

It is a small country with little to no crime
Depends on what crime you're referring to, Montenegro has no sterling reputation in the area, about on par with neighbouring Albania:

Quote
Crime in Montenegro
Montenegro is a transit, source, and destination country for men, women, and girls who are subjected to trafficking in persons, specifically conditions of forced prostitution and forced labor. Trafficking victims are mostly females from Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Albania, and Kosovo, who migrate or are smuggled through the country en route to other destinations and subjected to conditions of forced prostitution in Montenegro. Roma children are coerced into organized street begging in the country.

Quote
The Montenegrin Mafia (Crnogorska mafija) or Montenegrin Cartel are terms used for the various criminal organizations based in Montenegro or composed of Montenegrins. There are 700 documented organized criminals operating within Montenegro; outside of the country Montenegrin gangs are active throughout Europe-notably Serbia and Slovenia. The gangs tend to specialize in cigarette smuggling, narcotics and arms trafficking.

The figure of "700 documented organized criminals" may appear small, but Montenegro's population is only 625,266 (2011 census). Maybe they are discreet criminals who don't want much exposure and to worry passing tourists, so they flew under your radar ;)?

Prolly better to focus on the good time our hero had rather than the details of the 'locale' underworld.

Next are some of Kotor...   Wow what a climb..  The first picture, follow the wall to the top... if we can

Ah we went up the hard way and it was about 4 hours to the top.  After walking up the narrow streets, to the back alleys, zig zagging along the ascent up the side of the mountain.  The back alley eventually ended into a button hook to a path heading up the mountain.  The first picture, follow the wall to the top... if we can

As the back alley dirt road turned into the button hook it was narrowed by a fence, which behind that was a great big dog, barking, and angry.

We proceed to walk up the trail and it connected with the path behind the walls you see in pic 1

Pic 2 you can see the views as we skirted along the wall on a trail that only was a way trampled through the vegetation with hardly a way through without entangling with the many thorny bushes, or the old stone steps laid so long ago.  However most steps were part of the now broken off wall and it was 10-100 meters straight down and the steps were narrow.

We saw a couple snakes along the way.  The one coiled up is about 2 meters long, the little guy in the wall I was told is bad news but the big one is ok.   BTW before the Second 2 Meter long Snake came the first one, which I noticed a step above me as I made the climb.

I froze and asked my fiance to stay very still and not to move... right at that moment it went over my foot between my feet, down the next step to do the same thing to her, and off into the vegetation, so fast the whole movement took less than a second.

We were ok, but she was not happy  >:(  ...   We continued up the mountain to see the second snake which I didn't notice this time.  It was sitting in those weeds in picture so that he was on one side and a drop off the wall of 100 meters was on the other side.  He didn't move though so I took a couple pictures of him.

After we got to the top the view was amazing.   I will post some more picture soon...

Plus we had a bonus once we neared the top we could see nice tourists style steps that we could go down (and probably should have used to get up to the top....  but the way we went was a whole lot of fun in the end. )

So we were both happy and really enjoyed our whole day at Kotor....  only a short bus ride from our stay on Jaz Beach.

Last picture is from the Fort at Old Town Budva
