Retain originals?
« on: March 26, 2006, 11:18:23 AM »
I recieved quite a bit of advice here to the effect that signatures  need to be original, but looking at the visajourney site, they say  retain all originals, and then SHE will take the originals to the  embassy.

Any comments?

What originals are you talking about?  Yes, I would say that is right.  I had to send a copy of my birth certificate and my divorce decree.   I sent a copy with the filing and I sent the originals with the interview?   I sent copies of my boarding passes and sent the originals to the interview.  Anything you send with the application is gone forever.  Good luck

I had the same thought about this statement on the visa site. Turboguy are saying the originals in Fiances hand at interview are returnable.  JPjr

Like original signatures on her 325, which I had her mail instead of fax, due to ppl's comments that the sig had to be original.

On officail gov't forms (IE: I-129f & G-325a) they require ORIGINAL documents with signatures. For all supporting documentation (IE: Birth Certs, divorce decrees, photos, reciepts) they require a COPY and that the original be available for their inspection at the interview.

Thank you Jet, I understand, now.    Edit to say it took 6 wks for a registered and insured package to get to her. A letter she posted, never got here. I suppose the way to have these important docs. assured delivery is to FEDX it correct?  Joe

UPS (if available) or DHL are both superior to FedEx in relaibility and price IMO. UPS should run about $50 and can be billed to the reciever; DHL will run about $90 and must be paid by shipper; both take @ 5 days. IIRC FedEx charges about $137  for similar service.

USPostal also offers Global Express Mail.  I believe a 1 oz package cost $16.50.  I know I just sent a 3.8 oz package for $24.50.  It is trackable, with a 3-5 day delivery to Moscow, but I found 7-9 is more typical to Omsk.  They have a slightly higher guanteed delivery date service as well.

Updates to the USPS web-site only occur once an evening though, unlike Fed-Ex and some of the others.

You send things from the FSU to the USA? <smile>  Honestly, we haven't.  I have received a few scanned images of passports and the like via e-mail.  Those have sufficed for anything needed on this side of the pond.
