MOD or MOM or ...
« on: July 01, 2013, 01:03:20 AM »
We all understand MOB to be "mail order bride" but oddly enough, the first couple to benefit from the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage was a FSU connected couple.

Introducing the MOD (mail order dude) or should it be the MOM (mail order man) acronym?

In today's tweeting world perhaps we should consider the acronym implications before settling on the appropriate initals: LMAOOMOD (laughing my arse off over mail order dude) or maybe OMGHGAMOM (oh my gawd he got a mail order man).

(sigh) I don't know, but apparently a man from Bulgaria and an American man became the first same sex union to be approved for a permanent visa by the US government after the Supreme Court ruling. Voice of Russia Radio announced that a Bulgarian man, Traian Popov, has been living in Florida with his American man, Julian Marsh.

Their immigration attorney expressed surprise at how quickly the approval and visa arrived.

PS...right about now some member is pounding on the keyboard that Bulgaria was not a Soviet Republic and therefore not a FSU state. Correct, but Bulgaria was a former Soviet satellite and Warsaw Pact member, and besides the acronym for OMGMDKTFSUS (oh my gawd Mendy doesn't know the FSU states) is too long for most tweets.  :D

Try something else, those have already been taken (Ministry of Defence, Mother) ;); in these equal-opportunity days, maybe MOP (Mail Order Partner) might be a choice :D.

To keep it gender neutral, I would suggest MOS (S for spouse) except it is a widely used military term.  Everyone in the military has a MOS or military occupational speciality.

So I suggest MOH (H for husband, equivalent to bride).

Or MOG for groom? But maybe that evokes visions of stables and saddle/pack quadrupeds :-\ ;).

You are correct, as usual.

The term "groom" better describes the FSUW, not the man, if the FSUW married under false pretenses.  In such cases her husband is referred to as a mule.  In effect, such a FSUW is a groom who attends to her mule, keeping her mule happy until time to leave him.  Your photo is good but would be perfect if a gorgeous blonde were brushing its coat.
