Today, 21 October is the "name day" or Saint Day for any female named "Hope."

Her names and nicknames include Надежда (Nadezhda) or you may call her Надя: "Nadia."

Girls born on or around this name day may very well be baptized as "Hope" in this often observed tradition.

So if Nadezhda/Nadia is your gal, practice saying her full name, Na-dyezh-da, and then let her know that you consider her name day to be special.

Ask if she was the main star in the movies named Надежда (there are several with that title) and impress her with your superior knowledge of FSU culture!
