I don't know what the hell is the matter with you people. The original post made it abundantly clear that LT has no clue about what he's doing and GQ the only one who made a comment to that effect. On the other hand, a wack-job blew some smoke up his voluminous butt and there was a plethora of hollow congratulations, as if that is going to be curative.

We have a numer of people here who had no clue and nevertheless had luck.
At some point in time the same could even be said about you.

We may not agree on every issue, but I listen to you.  I had you on ignore for a while because of some forgotten reason, but I found myself reading your posts anyway and on some issues I agree with you.  You're mostly respectful.  I enjoy reading what you have to say.  So thanks!

I understand you are working on a book and that you edited a book that has for quite sometime been published.  I am interested in reading your book and learning what insights you have about the culture.  I have as you know never been to Kazakstan.    I am particularly interested as one of my favorite writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn spent a good deal of his life there.  My favorite story from the Gulag Archipelago is where Giorgi Tenno escapes from prison.  It's an incredible story.  There were a few Russians from Kazakstan in the Russian Department at the U of A.  Let us know when the book comes out.

Author?!? Really?

Maybe my impressions were wrong but I always thought being diligent and observant are but two of the more distinguishing traits of any 'author'. If so, my quesion then is, how come LT didn't just 'author' his own K-filing? Considering it's probably the simplest thing on earth to do since imagination is not required and you're just really filling in the blanks. They even provide you a step-by-step instructions all the way through.
