Yes, very curious. At IBM Italy I had a few UK expats as my managers, and all were, let's say, peculiar . No problem when I worked in the UK, though. Remnants of old colonial attitudes, bringing out their worst ?

Russian army lieutenant colonel issues orders to Ukrainian policemen

A video has been posted online purporting to show a Russian army lieutenant colonel issuing orders to a line of policemen in Horlivka in east Ukraine. Pro Russian separatists had earlier stormed the police station in Horlivka and beaten up a defiant police chief...

In an exchange filmed at the scene, the man told the police who had earlier surrendered that he was a lieutenant colonel. When one policeman said “of what?”, he replied: “The Russian army”.

All those immigrants in the UK are indeed terrible. Their work ethic, their drive and their ingenuity are a terrible example to the locals who are used to sitting on their lazy asses waiting for the government to send them their benefits cheque.
