A metaphor for what?

That's up for debate but widely believed to mean the draft during the Vietnam war

A metaphor for what?

I've gotta prenup to make a lawyer cry.  I didn't go in taking any chances.   Having said that there's 0% chance of us not staying together.

Grats Tom on your marriage and I trust you when you say you found a winner but like others, I suspect your prenup isn't worth any more than toilet paper. A prenup can't be one sided and should follow the divorce guidelines in your state. Also your wife's attorney, in event of a divorce, can claim English isn't her first language and she didn't fully understand it and signed it under duress. I also doubt a judge will throw your wife on the street penniless and have social programs take care of her with taxpayers picking up the tab.

If you feel your prenup is truly one sided and you trust and love your wife, adjust it to make it more fair in event of a divorce. By doing that, it will strengthen your marriage.

Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Nah not really. Kravitz version came along 40 years later and he didn't write the song, he only recorded it. Perhaps it was before your day?

The original recording, in 1970, was by the Winnipeg (Canada) band The Guess Who - interesting explanation of the lyrics from the leader of the group.

The original recording, in 1970, was by the Winnipeg (Canada) band The Guess Who - interesting explanation of the lyrics from the leader of the group.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Woman_(song)

The meaning, or shall I say the way that I interpret it, is very much what he says:

excerpt
The song's lyrics have been the matter of some debate, often interpreted as an attack on U.S. politics (especially the draft). Jim Kale, the group's bassist and the song's co-author, explained his take on the lyrics:

The popular misconception was that it was a chauvinistic tune, which was anything but the case. The fact was, we came from a very strait-laced, conservative, laid-back country, and all of a sudden, there we were in Chicago, Detroit, New York – all these horrendously large places with their big city problems. After that one particularly grinding tour, it was just a real treat to go home and see the girls we had grown up with. Also, the war was going on, and that was terribly unpopular. We didn't have a draft system in Canada, and we were grateful for that. A lot of people called it anti-American, but it wasn't really. We weren't anti-anything. John Lennon once said that the meanings of all songs come after they are recorded. Someone else has to interpret them.[6]
snip

I find it very interesting that he claims that it's not a chauvinistic tune, and then he goes on to admit that he comes from a very "strait-laced, conservative...country.

Back then of course the real meanings of words (as now, but that's when it started) had been radically altered.
Chauvinist became a dirty word, and yet we hear women clamoring for men who do chauvinistic deeds.
